I guess you could get a metal plate made up to form a false floor so the floor is raised up a bit over the pedal area - experiment with a thick book or block of wood to see if it helps :)

The resistor pack is on the right hand side of the centre console (when sitting in the car looking to the front) accesses from the drivers footwell, way down by the pedals. Its the green part in this photo behind the fan :)

The only problem with DIY is getting the nipple bits on the end of the cables to stay on. I have used a kit from OSCO but eventually the nipples came off the end of the cables, a cheaper alternative is from the ebay seller idealautoteile which appears to be the same type of kit as OSCO, now...

Its kind of a split flywheel with a damper type device between the 2 halves - many cars now use them in place of a solid flywheel and they are notorious for going wrong, with some models you can get a conventional solid flywheel as a replacement as dual mass ones are stupidly expensive.

I would think the wiring side of things should be quite simple, if need be a separate fused power feed taken from the battery to the screen itself (I think the connections are accessed from under the scuttle panel) and the power controlled by a relay and suitable switch on the dash. I wonder...

Some people remove the prop to try and improve fuel consumption (or use that as an excuse :rolleyes:) but as you say its much more likely that the VCU has failed or the IRD. 1st step is to source a rear prop, fit it then test your VCU and take it from there :)

I could never get any play in my drop links with the wheels off the ground, best way to tell is with the wheel on full lock and test for movement in the drop link ball joints with a large pry bar

I must get round to checking the fuel consumption on our TD4 - it would be interesting to see what it gets :) I keep an accurate record on my 1.8 and on filling up last week, got 31.5 mpg :D

That is where the resistor pack is located in my 1998 Freelander (drivers footwell) but it does not have AC - my 2005 one does so will check tomorrow :) I thought most of the AC stuff was in the passenger side.

Early Freelanders do rely on the fob to disarm the immobliser, its later models with the oval key with the Land Rover logo on it that have the chip and pick up system. The fob sends a signal to the alarm control ECU then the main ECU will disarm and allow the car to start.
