no need for any jigs or special alignment tools, the rubber on the vcu bearings take up misalignment, just get it looking straight by eye and the bearing rubbers not being pulled. Where is the vcu from? what vibration damper is fitted to it, some of the cheap after market ones are so far out...

The rear diffs are all the same, 1.8, 2.0d, td4 and v6, although from approx MY2000 had uprated carrier bearings, but they are all interchangeable.

if its rear wheel drive only, this is nothing to do with the vcu, a vcu test will prove naff all. if you want to prove its not got front wheel drive, jack one front wheel and spin the wheel by hand while its in gear, that will prove no drive. Or if you fancy a bit more excitement jack both rear...

Had to replace a pipe on 2 separate occasions, tank out is the easiest option, and not a major task anyway. I used high pressure rubber fuel line rather than the hard plastic parts from landrover, i reckon they will last a lot longer as they wont wear through as quick!

There are far worse jobs, but just come in from changing the poxy fuel regulator (for the 2nd time after the rebuild kit didnt work), 2hrs of my life wasted on 3 bolts!

If the vcu is getting more than tepid warm then yiu tyres are mismatched, you need the sort the them out before you doing anything else.

I bought a kit and it still leaks, not sure if i have done something wrong or if its the actual block now.

Rebuilt mine last week with the kit, huess what its still leaking, although not as bad!!! gggrrrr!!

I'm struggling to get a replacement prefacelift TD5 bumper, it needs to be a colour coded one with fogs, but happy to respray the colour bits if its not a black one and preferably with no cracks in it. Can anyone help??
