You are not the first, happened to others too.... i've refurbished one once with other kind of o-rings and it worked for a while ... it seems that the only total fix is to get a new genuine one.

Chaps...

The fuel pressure regulator (actual insert) can fail in a number of different ways. Below is a schematic of a generic Bosch fuel pressure regulator insert:

Possible failure mechanisms:

1- Leaky outer o-ring (diesel leaks out, effect on engine running depends on extent of leak)
2- Leaky inner o-ring (diesel bypasses regulator valve, fuel rail pressure drops, engine performance suffers)
3- Leaky diaphragm (diesel leaks through the back of the regulator)
4- 'Tired' spring or washed out valve seat (pressure not maintained, injectors under fueled, engine performance suffers)

As you can see replacing the o-rings will only fix 1) and 2), the other scenarios call for replacing the complete insert or even the whole fuel pressure regulator block.

If the inner workings on the fuel pressure regulator are stuffed, the part can be replaced with a Bosch p/n 0.280.160.575 FPR (used in several Audi & VW models over the last 12 yrs).

None currently sold on eBlag UK but at least one across the Atlantic:

Bottom line is replacing the o-rings is likely to solve your problems but may well not.
