Navtrak make vehicle trackers. They are an aftermarket addition, mainly to lease hire vehicles. The ADR is Advanced Driver Recognition. This is to stop people from driving your car when your keys are stolen. Its obviously deactivated as you would not be able to turn on the ignition without...
I do have some pics of the build somewhere. I will do a write up when I have some time in the evenings. I was planning to put it up on the Instructables website anyway :)
Hi folks!
So I am not quite sure if I have already done this or not so here it goes again (maybe!).
I'm Ian, 33 from Kent, been driving my Freebie for 6 years, mostly long-haul trips through Europe and to the north of England and Wales. I rarely if ever do small local trips in it.
It...
Thats exactly why I used the water. I didnt know if it was a gushing problem, or a slow drip as I hadnt checked it for over a year since I had parked it up for the last time.
Antifreeze is expensive to use for fault finding when I didnt know if it was just going to gush out all over the...
Hello!
I had a leak somewhere in the coolant system in my Freebie which had sat unmoved for 3 years. As I couldnt afford to waste antifreeze looking for it, I filled the system with plain tap water instead and looked for the drips - which I eventually found after a few days (this was back in...
Yes, mine is also a wind up torch. I'll only be using the lightsticks for emergencies as they are military grade and extremely bright.
TBH the hi-viz vests are a bit over the top but where we go in france, the plod demand they are within reach and not in the boot in case of accidents...
FYI
This is a basic 2d image of what I am making. It is all to scale and I have measured everything thats going into it. Its not suitable for everyone and to be honest, most wont like it, but I do and thats all that matters to me! Its all going to be black cordura nylon, the black and grey...
Hi Teddywood
Thanks for the offer, but its just the back measurement I needed. I'm not making a seat cover, just a thing to hang from the headrest posts over the back of the seat and tie at the bottom, with lots of pockets for various things.
Regards
Ian
Can confirm. My Freebie is a 1.8 K, was fitted with LPG over 100,000 miles ago and with the exception of me not having the correct adapter for France, it has performed brilliantly and never given me any problems. I've never heard of the valve problem, but mine was fitted with a vacuum hose to...
Because I am a neat freak and like things to fit properly! I do a lot of travelling, camping and European driving so I have lots of things I like (or am required) to keep within reach, without clogging up the gloveboxes.
And also because I dont want to buy a generic seat organiser!
Hello
I would like to make a seat organiser to hang over the back of the drivers seat in my Freebie 1. Unfortunately my Freebie is in the garage so I was wondering if any kind person here could measure the back of the seat for me? I need the height and both the top and bottom widths...
Hi
I need to change my fuel pump on the Freebie. I bought part number WFX000130 on ebay for £60-ish brand new. On the page it says fully comp with part WFX000190 which I have just found out is in mine.
I got the original part number from the main stealers so I didnt bother ripping up the...
learn something new every day! I was seriously considering getting one for mine but would have then been bitching about not being able to fit it!
You, Sir, have saved me however much an egr blank kit costs. More money to spend on guinness now!
Yes, thats right. Any engine - as long as it was an option, ie no lambo engines...
Mine is a 1.8 k so my choices are based off that as its all I know. I dont read the td4, F2, etc threads as they not relevant to me 99% of the time.
I'll start
With no service history I would begin with a full major main dealer service
Replace all belts and hoses with OEM
New starter motor (in my experience, they just fail)
Uprated gasket set (not sure if thats in the main dealer service or not)
New VCU
Remove prop shaft
EGR blank...
In this hypothetical world, you have been given a completely stock Freebie 1. You've taken it for a test drive and everything works. Its not perfect as it has 100,000 miles on the clock but it starts and stops when it should. The only problem? No service history at all.
You are also - by...
