L322 What to look for when buying.

I would prefer to because they go better, are no worse on fuel, and are better built but they are quite expensive and my wife really wants a Range Rover.

L322 What to look for when buying.

Sure, I realise that they are complicated. Our other options are a Discovery 3, or a Q7, so neither of those are any simpler than the Range Rover. I was aware of the tax increase after that date, my parents used to have a Freelander that, by utter chance, was registered on the 22nd March 06. I...

L322 What to look for when buying.

I should also have said, it will probably be a 2005/2006 model with between 70,000-90,000 miles.

L322 What to look for when buying.

Our TD5 Discovery is getting rather old now, so we are looking at buying a 3.0 TD L322. Are there any common faults to look out for? From what I can gather the auto'box is weak but the BMW engine is pretty reliable.

Disco 2 Ride height sensor fault?

Thanks Sierrafery. I have just followed your advice about using the jack under the towbar and it all seems to be back to normal. Still couldn't get the ant-roll bar link on, so I put a ratchet strap on the bar and around the diff, and that did the trick.

Disco 2 Ride height sensor fault?

I have got this all back together (as well as changing the rear pads and bleeding the brakes through) except for fitting the new anti-roll bar link, because I can't get the axle high enough to connect to it. I think that the ACE has been affected by the ride height sensor fault and has moved the...

Disco 2 Ride height sensor fault?

Ok. I will make sure that I disconnect the battery. I ordered 2 new sensors (and a new anti-rollbar link) from Island 4x4 on Wednesday evening and they arrived today, so I will fit them at the weekend. Thanks.

Disco 2 Ride height sensor fault?

Excellent! thanks. No need to disconnect the battery then.

Disco 2 Ride height sensor fault?

I was towing a digger today with our TD5 and the car was behaving fine. I unloaded the digger and started to head home with an empty trailer and the car started to make a knocking noise from the rear. I pulled over and noticed that the O/S rear anti-roll bar link had popped apart. Pulling back...

    Three amigos fix

I had exactly the same fault code. Take a look at my post, which I have just updated: - https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/svs-wiring-mod.282288/#post-3509555

    SVS wiring mod.

An update on this thread. I did the wiring mod and got it all back together a couple of days after my last post in June. Absolutely no sign of the three amigos since then and traction control and ABS all working as it should. Might tackle the leaking sunroofs over Christmas, that will be...

    SVS wiring mod.

Thanks. Managed to get it out with a pair of long nosed pliers. Switch resistance readings are all good, so just need to solder on the wires and get it all back together again.

    SVS wiring mod.

Just started doing the SVS mod late this afternoon. I have now got the switch pack detached from the ABS modulator but I can't, for the life of me, get the wiring plug to come out. Is there a particular trick to getting it out? Also, rather annoyingly, I was a member of the D2 Boys Club but...

    Rust proofing begins today

All the Dinitrol stuff is really good, far better than Waxoyl. I wire brushed the chassis on our TD5, then treated it with a rust converter. Then I sprayed the chassis inside and out with 3125 and then just the outside with their black 4941 wax. I used a compressor but these are available in...

    Vibration at speed.

It arrived from Island 4 x 4 today and it does, indeed, include the spigot bush. Another job for the weekend, along with the SVS valve modification.

    Disco td5

As Sierraferry says, it's probably the pump. Our one did exactly the same thing a few years ago and it was the pump. If it is the wastegate modulator, or the wastegate sticking, you tend to get the revs reaching about 2800 then dropping back a few hundred, then rising to 2800 and so on.

    Vibration at speed.

Well it used to be fine at 70 MPH plus, so clearly it is something that can be rectified!!!!

    Vibration at speed.

I have ordered the GKN kit that comes with all of the bolts, not sure if it includes the spigot bush though.

    Vibration at speed.

I had another look at the car this morning. The rubber coupling looked to be sound but when I got a small bar and levered the prop towards the front of the car a lot of cracks opened up around the mounting bolts. Also, the replacement front prop appears to have a bit of wear in both of the...

    Vibration at speed.

Our TD5 has had a vibration at between 70 and 80 MPH for a couple of years now. When it first started I found some wear in one of the UJs on the double cardan joint on the front prop. I replaced this but it didn't help. As I hadn't replaced the needle roller bearings in the centre of the...
