I know this point has been talked about so many times as so many of us pull our hair out (or what's left of it after owning landrovers!) with this damn problem but.....
My disco has had the three amigos popping up intermittently now for a while, had codes read at my local specialist when it was in for a previous problem and it is the shuttle valve, my mechanic has said that there is not a lot of point in changing the shuttle valve as he has very little success with this and suggested a second hand modulator, but on reading more into it, it sounds like the internal wiring is at fault most of the time, on ebay there is a chap suggesting he has modified the standard shuttle vale repair kit with some external wiring added to bypass the faulty internal stuff, has anyone heard of this being done or even better bought one of these kits?
Thanks

Much has been written on the forum regarding the "3 amigos", if you do a search.

The usual reason for the fault popping up is either a faulty hub or the ABS Shuttle Valve Switches. Assuming that the codes you have point to it being due to the SVS, then it is unlikely that it's the switch plate itself, but more likely to be the connection system inside the ABS modulator block.

The modification to the SVS switch plate does "bypass" the internal wiring and can be done by anyone who can handle a soldering iron, there's no need to go paying some guy on ebay for something you can do yourself.

Many members of this forum, including myself have done this mod, most of the time very successfully.

Try a search on google for "svs mod" or "disco2 svs mod"

I would also check your battery condition. Try charging it fully.
I had 3-amigos constantly and replaced the shuttle valve with no success. Guy with diagnostics suggested my crap battery was to blame.
Once I put a new battery in the car (alternator output and current drain were checked and found to be OK) the 3- amigos have GONE! (So far at least for nearly 500 miles of driving).

I did the wiring mod on mine about 3 weeks ago.. Now the 3A's have gone! It definitely would have come back by now. But I would suggest if you can.. Check prior to see if the stored faults show that it's an electrical problem otherwise the wiring mod will not resolve it. You will need something that can read the fault codes e.g Nanocom etc

Thanks everybody for replies, sounds like I should look at bypassing the wire at fault, probably stick a new shuttle valve in at the same time anyway as they are relatively cheap in landrover terms!!!
