    P38A Charging thru 12V power sockets...Possible?

It's ignition switched via RL7, like front cig lighter, so no.

Vaseline always used to be labeled "Vaseline- Petroleum Jelly" which might be some indication :)

    P38A Jump starter boosters

Might be an idea to get out with a tape measure and check dimensions of your battery box. The one I linked above fits the hole in the GEMS and Thor (I have it in each of mine) and I know of several diesel owners that have the same battery in theirs.

P clips, which are a metal clip, but plastic lined. Here are the ones that Tinleys do http://tinleytech.co.uk/shop/lpg-parts/clips-x10-for-poly-pipe-8-mm-size/ but you can get them pretty much anywhere...

    P38A Jump starter boosters

Do you have a different battery tray fitted compared to standard, or something unusual bolted in the battery box? This size battery is a popular drop in for both diesel and petrol in the UK. About the largest you can get away with... https://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/hankook-mf31-1000.html

    It's A Gas...

Very true Saint.V8 CoP 11 isn't too scary when it comes to pipelines though. Extract of the relevant bit: 4.4 Pipeline Location 4.4.1 Every pipeline feeding from or into the fuel tank should follow the safest route and beprotected from impact. It should not be routed through any passenger...

    It's A Gas...

I'm a bit puzzled by the path you're taking above Doo. Unless there's someone else in internet world on the P38 Yoof sites with exactly the same problems as you, then it's already been established over there that you have an SGI Type 1 vapouriser. These have the solenoid incorporated into the...

    P38A Gearbox question

Cornishboat- you say right at the top: "The one thing I always had since I have owned the car (5 years) was fluid escaping from the filler, I put tape on the dipstick a few years back which stopped it". If you've never changed the fluid or had to top it up or anything, I'd say that your problem...

    P38A Gearbox question

The book RAVE, for the GEMS, says check it cold! The marks on the stick are Max and Min- not hot and cold. NOTE: Check the fluid level only when the engine and gearbox are cold. 1. Ensure vehicle is level, then select ’P’ (park) and start the engine. 2. With the engine running at idle speed and...

    radio locked out!!

Or if you don't fancy getting it for nothing from your LR dealer, you can pay £10 to someone like this (if it's an Alpine): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-P38-ALPINE-RADIO-SECURITY-4-DIGIT-PIN-CODE-DECODE-2001-2005/162671173729?

    P38A dsp amp repair

Fascinating thread Dave. Every time I turn my radio on I have a moment of "is today the day it goes pop?" My car's already had one factory new DSP amp, back in around 2010, so if the first lasted 8 years, the current one hasn't long to go. I've got the even more obscure 17 speaker setup with...

P38A Manual air lines installed, EAS

If I understand you correctly Matt your bags are currently connected by a T piece- front/ front and rear/ rear? That's a bad thing as far as handling, particularly in roll, is concerned and at least you should separate them into individual valves. Reason- picture the car cornering, weight...

    P38A Engine Immobilised

A good place to start is by testing the door latch microswitches. Use Marty's test sheet. If any of the three switches are defective, you won't be able to enter the code. You are waiting for the message to dissappear from the dash before you try the process aren't you? Anyone near you ( lovely...

You can enter the EKA with Nano on later BECMs which is the Thor cars. BTW, in your vid you turned the key the wrong way with your initial 4 turns! Once keycode lockout has gone from the screen (after 30 mins) with windows closed and door locked... start by turning the key to lock (to left...

P38A Deflating the battery...here we go again.

The 3rd Generation RF receiver (the good one) has the same part number as the 2nd Generation- YWY500170. Only way to tell them apart is to look inside the box. Ignore the oft quoted advice about blue stickers etc. Anyone can stick them on! Here's a well circulated pic from Eliot Mansfields web...

    L322 4.6 boiling

P38s main cooling fan is driven off the water pump boss via a viscous clutch. If you're talking about an electric fan you're probably looking at the 2x aircon fans mounted behind the grille. These also come on as a backup if engine overheats, but are not efficient enough to use as sole source of...
