radio locked out!!

i have a original radio cassete in my 1999 2.5 range rover i must have put wrong code in to many times now when i press the on button i can only get the four bar lines and i am unable to put the code num in. Any ideas please.

Disconnect it let it power down for a few hours then try again, may work.

Do you have right code now? Try reset as above or do internet search to see if there is a reset procedure. Then phone JLR dealer, give your name and veh reg. They will give you the original code, for original system

I think - could be wrong - but powering off may not help....leaving it powered on for a set amount of time will.

From memory - which is poor - if you enter the wrong code X amount of times it will time out for Y amount of time, another wrong entry will double the timeout, and then again if another wrong entry is put in and the timeout increases up to 30 minutes maximum I think....

You then have to leave it powered on for the relevant amount of time before it will allow you to put the code in again.

Research is key!

Make sure you have the correct code and then follow Saint V8 s advice above but if you mess it i up as I have done before leave it powered up and the first lock out is about 5 mins.
