P38A Charging thru 12V power sockets...Possible?

Rather than yank the bonnet up and mess about under the hood. Can I back-charge through the cigar-lighter in the boot or is it relay/diode blocked? Did a search but couldn't find an answer.
Would be useful to me, so I suspect its been nerfed and isn't possible.

Anyone know for sure?

It's ignition switched via RL7, like front cig lighter, so no.

Never a good idea, there's a post on here were the op was charging his bus with the battery in the car and kept blowing fuses in his charger....

Why not a DIY version of this and positioned it where u choose.
http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bu...-jump-starters/ctek-comfort-connect-eyelet-m8 and change your charger leads to a socked/plug to suit.

I have two vehicles with this item under the bonnet so just plug in, its easer than clips

Its a standard factory-fitted item as far as I can see.

The rear accessory socket was only added on the later P38's (maybe even only from 2000?) My '01 has one, and so does my '00 I'm restoring. My other restoration P38, a '98 doesn't have one.

I drive to Czech Republic in mine on a regular basis (3-4 times per year minimum)
The key is having rock solid breakdown cover. If she knows she can't ruin your trip she behaves!

Later models have one in the boot on the driver's side.

I fitted one in the boot on the passenger side splicing into the towing electrics! Not tried charging with a panel but might work.
