    TDV8 swap

yea, there's a good few companies that do the ECU flashing so that won't be a stumbling block if my back is to the wall and there is a solution if I can't manage something myself or cheaper. Trying to decide is the cost of the TDV8 and gearbox worth it over just spending the money on adding...

    TDV8 swap

yea, all modern ECUs look for inputs from suspension, steering, wheel speed and lots of other bits but there's ways around all that so not really overly worried about that aspect of it. Fitting the TDV6 and TDV8 to the Defender should be fairly similar I'd imagine. just a little less space...

    TDV8 swap

Doing a full chassis rebuild on my 110 at the moment and strongly thinking of going for a TDV8 as have sold the VNT off the engine to a friend with the plan of getting the bigger version so rather than that expense and pushing the TD5 nearly as far as it can go, thinking of just putting it...

    Long journeys

Yep, main reason mine ends up in the workshop is because I find something new to stick on it :D Only time it ever did leave me down was when it wouldn't start for love nor money one morning during Christmas week due to blown injector washers. Again, those are kind of a service item too and...

    Rear axle off center

Your not comparing the rear axle with the front are you and do you have a lift kit? If you lift the suspension with standard pan-hard rods, the front axle shifts to the right side as the panhard swings down. Also, might be worth checking your hubs and rims in case there's different offsets...

    Long journeys

It's bad enough when toyota owners poke fun at landies for breaking down but when they're owners haven't enough faith in them to not worry about a full days driving, it's a sad state of affairs :o Think the most I've done in one day in my 110 is 550 miles and that's pulling a car transporter...

90 with a Cab and soft top question?

Mine although it's a 110 doublecab and exmoor hood so not sure if it's different to others, there's a little rail that's used as a sandwich plate for the bottom of the hood and the top of the tub on the rear bulkhead.

    Modern Dash Into Older 90?

Personally, I think the later TD5 dash looks the best in a Defender

    Maaarrghk!'s TD5 De-restriction bloggy fing

Millers is very good. Castrol is mostly overpriced rubbish for all but a few of their oils. Mobil 1 is very good too and have had good results with Redline too in cars. Have only really ran Millers in my Defender and Dad's Disco though. I get a fair amount of oil in my intercooler and...

    Oxyacetylene welding kit.

I have oxy-acetylene as my dad has had it for the last 40 years or so. it's handy for brazing the odd stuff or out and about where you can't get power easily for the welder and besides my welder is far too big to be carting about anyway lol The oxy bottle just fits with about an inch or two...

    TD5 110 double-cab pickup rear winch options?

doing a bare chassis rebuild on my 110 now so thinking about a rear winch again. Has anybody seen anything like a winch fitted under the tub kinda behind the A-frame cross-member. Not sure if there'd be enough room with suspension travel but thinking of fitting a winch cradle there before...

    110 rebuild

yep, although not hurt or anything I was pretty depressed Friday evening when it happened but spent the weekend at the Irish drift championship so the carnage from cars getting it wrong and hitting a wall after an 80mph entry speed helped soften the blow abit. It's being put down as a CAT C...

    110 rebuild

Gearbox only fitted a couple of months ago so that's good. Same goes for the axles as locking diffs only fitted recently with new shafts and CVs etc. Engine has 189K on it but it's running like clockwork so that's probably fine unless I get a mad notion and build a 2.8 :D Aside from the cost...

    110 rebuild

I know it's been probably covered to death but doing a full rebuild on my 110 due to coming off the road and rolling it due to an oil spill and wondering is there anything that I should do while at it in case I forget about it and be kicking myself afterwards. What I have in mind so far is...

    My 110 Crew-cab

Fitted my Tru-trac and Detroit locker... haven't tested them properly yet offroad in the woods but tried a few banks around the farm and was pretty impressed :D Here's what came out of the front axle!:p

    Defender 90 Drive Train Rattle

Sounds like main gearbox is fine so as usually 4th gear is quiet no matter how bad the gearbox gets. As said, check the simple stuff first, transfer box flanges, handbrake shoe and drum and check the front prop.
