Freelander 2 (LR2) Rattle From Engine Bay On Start Up

my money is on the alternator - try turning off the aircon to reduce load see if it cures it. My own was bad Yesterday in the frost, it cleared as soon as i turned off all the heaters....

not a thread asking whose Freelander does what mpg but still a question about mpg

I always reset the trip when the light comes on and put 30 liters in, then i can gauge if it goes up or down. I got a carbon clean on my high miles A6 3.0 V6 diesel - it done the business - increased performance and fuel economy, but - my friend also got it done at the same time, same machine...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 Brake Maintenance.

feel your pain Nodge - when i used to build race engines the ones that built no bother where good - the ones that were a right pain in the left one and gave me all sorts of problems were flying machines - holding out on this for you and the FL2 good luck

Freelander 2 (LR2) No Boost / Limp mode?

WRT scanners i have a foxwell nt530 goes pretty deep - its hand held and can be upgraded for other manufactures. SDD is prob the way to go for big work but is a laptop job. FL2 is a bit short on aftermarket scan tool functionality - looking into it i read somewhere recently that the FL2 was the...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 Brake Maintenance.

I recently did ours as the handbrake had gone digital... top tip - when working the rear drum off the first bit is awkward but then the shoes are exposed. Rather than pull the drum off the shoes - push back the shoes out of the drum if you get me. glad no one was hurt and all the best.

Steering Column Locked, clicking from passenger footwell

hmm, i noticed something recently with ours by chance. I got the spare key up and running and swapped it over with the main one to get it charged up. Before this i had noticed the key was not ejected as smoothly as it used to from the key slot. With the spare it was fine and when i used the...

    Freelander 1 Brake Fluid Question

running away this thread lol DOT 5 and 5.5 are silicon based and mainly used for racing applications - as they are silicon based they do not absorb water - but that is a negative for road going applications as you would then need to flush the system every now and then to get rid of water...

    FL2 TD4 - how can I improve audio?

ours has the alpine door speakers and 6 disc changer but not the sub in the boot. the good wife is fine with it, and in fairness it is not bad. But getting out of my A6 with Bose system and into the FL2, eeek the sound is pants. wonder if i could do a short video... then again in the diag tool...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Tailgate release not working

Thanks Nodge, i stripped the switch out and tested it, yeah its not working. It was wet in there and such a small switch - the click it makes did give it away i suppose. No amount of contact cleaner and airline were able to get it back until the new loom arrives!! It is obvious someone has...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 diesel starting on 3 cylinders, now running properly, after cylinder head change.

good to hear its getting there, job well done and documented. would it be worth taking the common rail off for a good clean out? I never even thought of the fuel itself, should have really as over here there are lots of dodgy places that supply red with the red taken out... I did run Topaz as...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Tailgate release not working

i am guessing it is a broken wire from the switch. The diagrams say it is brown which goes to the CJB. Questions are does it run up the left or right at the top of the tailgate? is this common and is there a part loom replacement available? suppose one way to find out...

0 fuel pressure and the engine wouldn't even attempt to fire. you have 2 pumps, one in the tank to lift the fuel and a high pressure one working at silly pressure to feed the injectors.

    Recommend me please?

I didn't know about SDD when I got the foxwell. SDD will do more but requires a laptop. For day to day I like the handheld - but it would be hard to go by SDD due to the cost difference. If you swap cars every couple of years the foxwell would prob be the way to go - if you are sticking with...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 diesel starting on 3 cylinders, now running properly, after cylinder head change.

the injectors are controlled with a digital signal - a bulb to them could be like a piece of wire to a bulb. Even with a scope i would be going x10 probe (high impedance) so that it does not impact the signal.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 diesel starting on 3 cylinders, now running properly, after cylinder head change.

I ran into a dead end trying to get mine refurb'd - in the end up i got tested ones from a breaker i was told about on here. None of my codes now match up - my foxwell can read, but runs into a security issue when trying a re-program hence the need for the SDD.
