Freelander 2 (LR2) Tailgate release not working

i am guessing it is a broken wire from the switch. The diagrams say it is brown which goes to the CJB. Questions are does it run up the left or right at the top of the tailgate?
is this common and is there a part loom replacement available?
suppose one way to find out...

The switch is known to fail, but I've never heard of the wiring fail.

There have been problems with earths for the door loom(s), hasn't the window damaged door looms as well? Agree though, the switch is a common fail point.

The window doesn't move the the FL2 GG, unfortunately.

Thanks Nodge, i stripped the switch out and tested it, yeah its not working.
It was wet in there and such a small switch - the click it makes did give it away i suppose.
No amount of contact cleaner and airline were able to get it back until the new loom arrives!!
It is obvious someone has been there before - couple of clips out of shape on the panel cover and the number light housing itself is not on good shape - super glue and clamps over night job to sort the brackets back out.
