Series 3 rear hanger chassis bushes

Well done. As already said a dirty but simple job made difficult if you’re at ground level. Having to do my rears again, not looking forward to it.

Series 3 rear hanger chassis bushes

Oh and also recommend a careful ream of the hole before you drive the new bush. The holes can get ovaled over time . A 32 mm reamer used once in and out quickly and carefully does the job.

Series 3 rear hanger chassis bushes

You’re at the tedious bash bash stage. Use heat and try to get a lip of the outer metal lifted and bash away at it. Don’t matter if it peels but use lots of WD40 and heat. It usually slips out once you’re one third through. It’s a total bastard of a job, especially if you’re outside and on the...

    Fitting the inlet/exhaust manifolds

One piece should be correct. Is it a three or five bearing engine?

Does anyone use a series for business?

I’d be careful to stay the right side of rules; traffic police are well onto trailers used for commercial use be it weight or content (waste license). All it takes is a bored patrol car to pull you over and then you’re fined £1000.

Series 3 Wright’s off road soundproof matting

Landys have a terrible problem with leaking and water gathered in the footwells. As posted I hope it remains dry cos otherwise it’s just a sponge and it’ll accelerate rot in about two years. I’ve done my bulkhead and since then I’ve not refitted the floor mats to avoid such a problem. Whatever...

Series 3 Has anyone got a 2 1/4 diesel engine to spare?

Best used as a small boat mooring. Or. You must have within a 20 mile radius an independent landy dealer/ scrappy. They are not good engines. The block is the same as a petrol it’s the fuel system that’s dinasaur. Get a petrol 2.25 or 2.5l. Then you’ll pass emissions tests easier, better and...

Tinkers stole my battery, leads and starter solenoid!

Laid up for a while parked on the road ? How come something that happened. It probably takes about 5-10 minutes to do that; in other words it takes totol brass neck. Could you fill in the details?

So why does the engine-swap myth persist?

You’re putting a very complicated but arguably subjective analysis on cost v value. I just did it. You also have experience of swapping. It’s a provenance thingy? If it’s not deviating majorly from original it should be valid and reflected in the value.

So why does the engine-swap myth persist?

I did mine about 12 years ago. Diesel back to petrol. Cost about £1,100. I had a donor landy which I took and got Turner Enginering to do the head for unleash. Scrapped the diesel and never looked back. Original engine is great. It’s a three bearing 1970’s . Done around 60k miles since. Change...

    Holes in Bulkhead.

That’s pretty pathetic of Craddocks to say that . Smacks of poor product knowledge.

    Series 3 greenlaning.

Remember that the original specification is within reason a go anywhere four wheel drive. Actually iconic. It should cope easily with bog standard green laning. Only reservation is the wheel base. Standard spec, even with the Weber , lower axle weight, especially to the rear. A bit of ballast in...
