The rubber boot perishes long before the ball joint goes. I had an MOT failure a few years back because of this. Sealed it up with some black silicone, took it to another tester, and it passed. Now it just comes up as an advisory on every test since.

Hi Dan. What did you do to fix yours? I'm getting a small leak on the top right side - only when it rains really hard. Can see a few water splatters on the top parcel shelf. I'm going to bend the corner flange out a few mil (as I think Land Rover once advised) and see if that makes a difference.

Thought i'd change my tailgate seal after catching up on a few other jobs. Mighty surprised to see prices well over £100 for this length of rubber!! Cheapest I found was £80 from Britpart. Just wondered if anyone had bought off the shelf/by the meter rubber seal as you can find on the bay and...

Just had similar overflow problems from expansion tank after changing the coolant (no overheating though). A new expansion tank cap sorted the problem.

Get him one of these and ask him to park inside it

You could borrow mine - but has the wife & daughter inside who could both talk non-stop for a weekend. Plus the blend motors need changing and a new headlining fitted would be nice!

You can have a go at cleaning them - had to replace mine when the same thing happened - and it sorted it. Don't go for a cheapo Chinese made replacement though - you'll be lucky if it lasts 2 months.

Loctite flange sealant will do you nicely. Black silicone.
