Agreed..come this far in. If I can see tarmac through the piston pot, there can't be much more I can take apart. ASSUMING..the crank faces are clean, (please , please please) the bearing shells aren't a million quid a set and I know it's good from there upwards.Mrs Bagshots credit card doesn't know what's coming..

Nearly set the car on fire having sprayed bolt releasing stuff all over the down pipe exhaust bolts still no joy wth releasing it so tried to heat it with a blow torch not one of my best ideas

All off now was off Sunday morning just waiting for replacement bolts and nuts and manifold away at work all week so will fit it all back together nxt weekend hopefully all be good

Drove her to London. The vibration through steering wheel is back. Noticed it when I got her back after the last breakdown. They changed the front ball joints as they were a bit clunky. Got wheel alignment and balance done a few days ago, to see if it would help. The 500 mile drive South proved it didn't. So she'll have to go back to the garage when I get home.
It's a pain because I'd just got the damn vibration fixed!

Put a new Brake Accumulator on to stop the pump running after EVERY braking operation.

No idea but would have thought if they were doing ball joints , because he thought she felt clunky,they would have looked at those too? I'm off to Catterick next week and then home, finally, the week after. So she'll have to wait until then

Just emptied it of the mountain of shopping the doris thought we had to have on our trip back to the UK. OK some of it was mine but that was important Rangie type bits, like complete classic rear light units in A1 cond. And a pair of unmarked genuine sill finishers I got for £80 the pair.
Buttercup performed faultlessly over 4 tanks of derv (didn't record the mileage - DOH) even coping with some horrendous fecking great potholes. Apart from the drivers window not wanting to close on the switch, sorted after a trip to Halfrauds for a can of contact cleaner, the rear tailgate not wanting to unlock, another trip to Halfrauds for a tin of silicon type spray, and the central locking deciding it would only unlock the doors, not fecking lock them, on to do list.
Apart from that a good trip. And a bit embarassing, quite a lot of people stopped to talk about it, how nice it was etc.

Car failed to rise. Checked pressure guage and no air going into the tank. Pulled spare compressor from its hiding place under the passenger seat and swapped them over. Up, up and away.

They're actually very good and also trustworthy. What I meant was , they were checking her over and found the ball joints were an issue, if they had seen the bushes were an issue they would have told me.
They're one of the few places that havent ripped me off , since ownership of the Golden Girl. Wish I had found them several thousand pounds and one engine sooner than I did. Between them, my original mechanic who used to work on the D2 and my auto-electrician, I've found the golden combination
