A very similar thing happened to my 2300 Rover SD1 back in 1993. I'm ashamed to say I glued the thermostat housing back on with JB Weld type glue which didn't leak but was a real bodge. I then sold the car the next day to a nice young couple from Norway who had come over on the ferry specially...

I ordered an oil filter housing blanking plate from Paddocks.....delivery guy turns up with a huge box - joking that it felt empty. "Did you order some fresh air in a box mate" he joked. Don't Britpart make small padded envelopes?....no wonder the minimum shipping charge is so damned high !!

I have pulled a trailer full of new house bricks (approx. 2 tons) in my 88" with few problems. So long as you remember to brake early. I also pulled a boat in a big trailer - but the trailer itself was braked and helped slow me down ;)

A bit OT..but when I used to own a classic 1990 range rover, the PAS pump died. Dealer wanted £900 for a replacement....then local auto electrician told me it was the same PAS pump used in a Ford Transit van. Ford dealer charged £170 for a new pump...fitted perfectly. Makes me wonder how many...
