on holiday, broken down, ideas needed

Thanks for the thoughts guys, its an auto so no bump starting unfortunately. It is on veg on a twin tank but I changed the fuel filter 2 days ago as ive done 1000 miles since fitting so no worries there. I checked the earth again and they are fine, so got the starter off and spun it with...

on holiday, broken down, ideas needed

Am I on the right track and anything I've not thought of? I'm up in Oban in the highlands and the disco won't start. 300 diesel on an auto box and the factory immobiliser still works. She wouldn't start this morning, despite 2 powerpacks and jump leads, so the AA have recovered me to...

I'm on my travels and needing some veg oil!

I appreciate that this may be a strange ask? But i'm on my travels around the UK catching up with family and getting waste veg oil is a bit of a problem! I'm in Scotland just now, Glasgow to be precise and heading to Skye on Sunday, then the Taynuilt (Oban) area on Tuesday, then over to...

    Buying a cat C?

Are we talking JUST the shell, or Shell and Chassis? Cos if its just the shell tell the scrappy to bog off as you need the V5 cos you are using the chassis! The shell doesn't carry the identity of the Disco, the chassis does.

    Hints and tips

On the subject... A really neat trick I picked up from my neighbour. I had changed the oil seal in the nose of the diff, but was struggleing to get it tight while lying under the vehicle, he said "why not use the weight of the vehicle?" Place a jack under the handle of the ratchet...

Who's a clever boy then John?? I prefer the builders bucket tip you gave me for the hub job, easier to lift!

    Rear seat removal

Anything is possible, it will just be a case of looking at the mountings and getting the toolbox out. One thing worth noting is make sure you talk to your insurance company! I know it sounds daft but I bought a new 300 recently and said to the insurer when putting it onto my policy about...

    Cooper sst discover tyres

I've had them from Camskill in the past, but I don't think they go to that size? COOPER TYRES / 4X4 / COOPER DISCOVERER STT - 4x4 Tyres - SUV Tyres - All Terrain Tyres - Off Road Tyres - 16" R16" - 265/75/16, 265/75 R 16 Or you can try this guy on Ebay, he usually has some good prices...

    couple of questions

Any Dextron II or III spec Auto transmission fluid will do, think LR quotes AQF? On the cat question, No! The cat for MOT reg is only for petrol models.

    Japanese spec discovery owners

Bin it, slap a straight through pipe in, it makes no difference to emmissions. Then weigh it in with a scrappy for between £60 and £120!! Job done.

Engine Change - DVLA want SO much info!

Yes you are in the wrong section, this is called hijacking a thread. Do a proper search of the forum for any answers that may be out there, if not, find the right section, start a new thread and write it in a coherent legible manner with as much info as possible!

Engine Change - DVLA want SO much info!

One of my mates had this with an engine change. He owned the vehicle the engine came from, did the right thing, had the standard letter, wrote back saying 1. you are thick, I own the vehicle the engine came from, do I write myself a receipt? 2. Did the work in my own garage 3. Vehicle has...

Another question on Diff Lock Sorry

Are you sure its a Discovery 1?? Cos even the very last of them had the difflock fitted. The Discovery 2 had the gubbins in the box, they just didn't have the lever. Get what you need from a late series 1 Discovery and away you go.

    Land Rover novice

Yep, depending on model of course, 200 and 300's are dead easy, Td5 still workable but code readers help, after that I avoid!

my 300 is dead!!!! cheap engine needed

Not so in my opinion, i'm actually middle of the road in my price, with people asking as much as £600 plus for the same engine. I know there is a difference between asking and getting but even so! Mine full service history genuine 69984 miles on the clock and the cambelt and idlers changed...

my 300 is dead!!!! cheap engine needed

I'm looking around the £400 mark as its such low miles. I just put a new timing belt and tensioners on it the week before I wrote it off! Its from my Auto Jap Reimport so its the one with extra horses, goes like stink (for a 300 Auto 2 ton vehicle!!)
