    Flamer Plug

I dont know what the kit looks like, but most older engines just had a heater element screwed into the manafold and it worked fine. In relation to wiring, most switches are wired through a heavy duty relay, the heater element is going to use a fair bit of amps so it may melt it if you dont...

    Leccy fan replacement

Thats the concept and as the engine demands increase it goes faster, they still fit them to trucks, but car manufacturers have all tossed them, because of economy issues. The new free wheeling pulley on alternators is the latest to reduce wasted energy.

    wont start

The screws came loose on mine and it had that same fault, take the cover off and check, if it aint tight against the lock then the key cant turn it.

    Leccy fan replacement

They always do, they dont idle as such but I dont like them they take power away from the engine and overcool the engine. I meen why do you want a fokin fan going first think in the morning.

More bits that apear to be missing on my Disco

Sometimes the long way is the short way mucker, and in the end that consol might be coming out. Would be winter eh, never mind in the summer spend some time on it and next year you will be fine. Hope you took the rear carpets out the boot area before the floor drops out.

    Leccy fan replacement

I ran for a while without a fan on the road, coz mine was about to jump through the radiator and it was fine. A bit different off road though, I have a kenlowe fitted now and it comes on for a while after the engine is shut down as the stored heat builds up, good for protecting that old head gasket.

    wont start

Is that a click at the starter motor or ignition switch. The switch could be fooked, if its at the starter then the solonoid is stuck and might work if you give it a tap with a hammer whilst the switch is held in the start position. I'm sure the spider cuts all feeds so you would get nothing...

More bits that apear to be missing on my Disco

Exactly correct, and dont stick fokal in it or the oil will build up and fook yur clutch, unless you go wading of course but then you take it back out again. What exactly were you freeing off, a diff?

Could be a write off :(

Seen a lot of cars rolled over but landies seem to come off worse, and the point I was making was not necesarily for road use coz they do roll over in the woods too. The guy who was killed was an elderly gentleman and unlikely to be belting it. I think it might be the weight factor, I have...

    disco noise help please

No!! the most I would do is take the prop off, mark it so it goes back on the same bits of the flange and stays in line. With it off grab each joint and firstly have a good look at them, the joint should be sitting square in the cups, sometimes when they collapse they can sit almost welded in...

    one wiper not working

Banned you said banned, I got fokin banned again until the end of the month on the archery forum. Some prick wrote an essay on the ethics of bow hunting then at the end wrote that he though bows were dangerous and should all be banned, he said that it was unnesessary to own one since you could...

    200 tdi heater

If its the fan you are talking about, probably the reostate, the little bit that controls the fan speed, dont know if its build into the switch or bolted to the side of the heater.

    300 TDI engine cutting out

Something floating about in the tank, but connect a gallon container,we call them iron lungs, and run it off that to see if it cures it, that rules out all the **** at the end, water trap, tank transmittor, piping etc. Also run a constant feed to the solonoid just in case its losing it at some...

Could be a write off :(

Was a fatality near bigger the other day the landy rolled, another bad one near abbington services a landie with a trailer, again it rolled and the roof was flattened, dont know the outcome of that one. Think its a good idea to have a roll bar in one.

    losing coolant

Core plug probably, unlikely you can change it with the engine in. Might even be a head gasket leaking. But!! spend some time checking all hoses, run your hand down them and check its not just a hose clip needing a little tweek. If you can get a hold of a pressure tester you can pump up the...

    disco noise help please

When you pull on the handbrake it loads the driveline like pulling a caravan, the fact you have been towing one makes me think the props gone, when did you last grease them, a trillion years ago? And remember the bastid rolls off once its lifted so you need to put it at least in diff lock, but...

    cam followers help

I agree entirely!!, also give the engine short sharp jabs and see if it makes it more severe, small ends, big ends and piston slap should get worse during this. Tappets dont really change other than if the cam and followers were knackered then you would be needing to adjust the tappets fairly...
