    2002 td4 wont rev

If possible, connect a voltemeter to the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel filter housing. (Pierce the wires with pins so you can check the reading with the plug still connected.) It should read about 4v at idle - i.e. 2.5bar. If you rev the engine the reading should barely change. Ideally...

    2002 td4 wont rev

The rail sensor is under the duct going to the air filter housing. Its definitely worth cleaning it and its connections. Also the map sensor - on the left hand end of the inlet manifold. Remove and clean. However, I think the maf could still be the culprit. Did you try unplugging it? Ron

Only 'cos they do actually work! Ron:)

    2002 td4 wont rev

If the mafam makes a difference and hopefully it will, then it shows that your maf sensor is not good. Depending upon how bad it is, it may be advisable to replace it with a Pierbugh one. (The mafam can't cure a faulty maf, just an out of spec one) Ron

    2002 td4 wont rev

The only other possible cause of power loss and rev limiting is a fuel supply problem. If the low pressure fuel sensor in the fuel filter housing isn't receiving 2.5bar from the low pressure pumps, the ecu can reduce the power to prevent the high pressure pump being damaged by fuel starvation...

    Too much lag?

I do! On the egr valve front, a chap who makes decat pipes for the L series (fits the early Frelander diesels as well - good for reduced lag, and a few more ponies) is working on an egr valve bypass pipe. I.e. a bolt on alternative without all the egr valve gubbins in it, just a nice smooth...

    cruise control manual

Conrad Anderson do them. I fitted one to my R45 - it worked well. Even managed to use spare conacts on the rotary sterring wheel coupler and mounted the controls on the wheel. BUT if the throttle position sensor is attached directly to the pedal, (like it is on the 75) it will be a real pig...

    H.P. increase on 1.8?

[/COLOR] That's me! (Tuning-diesels.com) The diesels are easier and cheaper to tune that the petrol motors. Ron

    cruise control manual

Both Rover 75 and MG ZT auto and manual diesels can have cruise control fitted. It can be retrofitted and in some cases the wiring is already in place. So you just need the cruise ecu, the wheel controls and to have it activated by a dealer with a Testbook. If the c/c can't hold the speed up...

    Starting from cold problems (diesel)

DOn't overlook the glow plug relay. This can suffer from burnt out contacts and corroded connections. Its worth replcing for the low cost involved. Ron

    TD4 Fuel Rail problem anyone?

Why can't they just replace the rail pressure sensor? It can be unscrewed and cleaned, and the contacts cleaned with switch cleaner. I can't see why a fuel rail should be needed if there are no leaks. Ron

    Freelander TDi Starting problem

Try a squirt of Easy Start spray (from Halfords etc) in the air intake. If it starts and keeps running its most probably a fuel supply issue. Injector leakback Low fuel pressure at the HP pump inlet due to one or both low pressure pump failure Leaking seal in the HP pump's control solenoid...

    TU3B Chip/Tuning box

Most 75 & ZT onwers don't have a problem. Usually it costs them either nowt or a £30-£80. A few miserable insureres won't cover any mods and NU are one, yet they will for some customers. I suppose it depends on how good a customer you are and your claims history! Where insurers wouldnt cover...

    Cleaning a K&N Filter

That's true. Depends upon how dusty the environment you drive in is too I guess. I can imagine Freelanders going in some dusty places!! I just give my BMC one a vacuuming every service to get rid of dead insects. It still looks clean after 10k miles. Ron

    Cleaning a K&N Filter

Follow K&N instructions - you should be able to get them off their website. Be carefull not to over oil it or the excess will contaminate the maf sensor and ruin it. I prefer BMC or ITG filter as these are preoiled for life. Ron

    TU3B Chip/Tuning box

Car Mechanics reviewed it in their October issue and are publishing a follow up report in the Feb issue on sale in a week or so. Their conclusion is: Recommended! So our verdict is clear and unambiguous; this product really does do EXACTLY what it is claimed to, and we therefore have no...

    looking for ECU reader

I use a SYkes Pickavant ACR4 and Rover V4 pod on my 75CDT. This is the only one that is compatible with the diesels othe than Rovacom and Omitech. They do a Landrover pod as well. You can often pick them up on Ebay. The ACR2 will also work - it just has a 2line display so there's a bit more...

Anyone got the TU1 tuning box?

Quite a few L series freelander owners have fitted a TU1 and are more than happy with the results. Usually their comments include improved mpg as well as the expected improevment in performance. If you opt for the TU1L, you can adjust it from inside the cabin, turning it down a touch when...

    Vibration at approx 1750 rpm?
