I'm thinking of getting one of these boxes as I have to collect a caravan from northern spain later on this year. I think the Freelander could you use some extra ponies to help tow the thing back across France.

The one thing i dont like is it looks like youi have to splice into the loom to fit it. The tuning boxI had on my Renault just plugged into the loom and was instantly reversible. This looks like it might be quite abit more involved to fit and remove etc.

So has anyone got one? How do you rate it and how hard/easy was it to fit?

Many thanks.

Unplug at injector rail and maf then fit the box! easy as that mate;)

well worth the money:D ;)

Generally speaking, plug in boxes aren't recommended when the engine is under load, e.g. racing, towing, offroading.

Ask Rover Ron for some advice, he is a top bloke.

Cheers

Quite a few L series freelander owners have fitted a TU1 and are more than happy with the results. Usually their comments include improved mpg as well as the expected improevment in performance.

If you opt for the TU1L, you can adjust it from inside the cabin, turning it down a touch when fully loaded and towing, and up for 'fast road' use.

You do need to have had the cambelt changed at the required interval as the fuel pump is working harder, placing a bit more strain on it.
