Hi all, does anyone know of a easy way to increase the H.P. on a K 1.8?. I have read hear that these moters are capable of 250 H.P., with rechipping larger ports and throttle bodies. But is there anything else that can give a few extra H.P. without all that work and expense?.
Cheers Dylan

are you sure you wanna extract more from an engine that is already prone to destructing itself in standard guise?

I also got this off the Rover website -
"200/400/600 SDI/SLDI/GSDI/FREELANDER mK1.
Tuneam Tu1 connects to the injection pump and map sensor to boost power to about 130bhp. Cambelt must have been changed as per service schedule." written by a guy called Rover_Ron:D
so theres a good start.

K-series is quite tunable but if you want 200+bhp then you have to be prepared to spend the dosh, power doesn't come cheap. There is no easy or cheap way to do it properly.

Adding a "few" bhp is a waste of time as you'll feel no difference in performance, either leave it alone or tune the ass off it.

Early FL MEMS 1.9 can be modded with CAT bypass pipe. There is second O 2 sensor on the later MEMS 3 models which prevents this mod. Although from memory, I recall seeing something in Rover forum to get round this.

52MM TB will give a few more horses and usually becomes a mod when the original plastic one sticks or warps.

CAT bypass pipe £35
52mm TB £130

The main prob is gas flow through the head but if your interested
heres the link to Dave Andrews company to show whats possible with a k-series.

That's me! (Tuning-diesels.com)
The diesels are easier and cheaper to tune that the petrol motors.
