    V6 series landy.

That really does look like a catflap rear door!!

Series 3 Fired the Series 3 up for the first time today. Low oil pressure

That's more likely to be a lack of earthing strap on the engine, it's not a short, it's earth current travelling from the engine to the rest of the truck (possibly) - have you got an earth strap between the engine and chassis/bulkhead.

how much will insurance repair ?

How do you know you're not injured if it was only yesterday, I have a colleague who settled early as they thought the twinge was nothing but now have debilitating neck pain and can't claim.

    Something odd here.

Dash looks correct for early Series 3, see it has no big square holes for venting into the cab, the original design just vented flap air up to the screen. If you were able to see the top of the dash, it should have very large vents on it. Appears to have a 2A gearbox and door hinges, as you...

    Why aren't Defenders 4x4?!

Even a Jimny comes with vacuum operated front and rear lockers as standard.

    Which Series Landy for towing

Sheet O'Reilly I should say so. How much will the trailer be? Any Land Rover Series 'on a budget' is asking for trouble too.

Realistic value of a 121k non running 3.9 efi discovery engine please?

So it's not 'not running' as such (as in buggered), so theoretically you could sell it as working, just untested? That's a big difference if someones looking for just an engine.

Interesting article on new Defender from MSN Autos

The market for longevity isn't there any more (amongst new buyers), the best financial sense for business is lease for 3 years and hand back when the warranty is up, it's all offset against tax and no worries with maintenance or capital outlay. Vehicles come and go as the business changes. I...

    MOT and speedometer

Prob cos his computer told him the mileage at last MOT so there's a discrepancy, worth mentioning on a modern era car but hardly on a 40 year old Landy.

this is sooo wrong, do you agree ?

The haynes focus has changed a little in line with expectations of what people do to their cars now, I recently got a manual for the Vivaro and under gearbox, apart from connecting cables and whatnot it just says that if faulty, get an exchange unit. No pictures of cogs and stuff!

    Amp meter diagrams needed PLEASE

    L322...that bad?

I see of lot of L322 being driven about by 'untypical' landy/rangey owners now they've moved down the price range. I expect they'll be plenty of even cheaper ones for the enthusiasts soon when these ex-fiesta owners get their first problem :)

Can I remove some of my bulkhead?

The bulkhead at that point is essentially there to stop the sides of the tub (where the door strikers are) from folding inwards, as long as your cage is attached to the sides the job is done. It looks like yours is attached already, I'd just cut away what you want and put some push on trim over...

    First gear thrust washer

I had the same confusion, here's my post about it: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/2788768-post103.html THE PIC IS SHOWING IT THE WRONG WAY ROUND - it says that in the text but just in case you didn't notice!

How do I discourage possible time wasters.

ahh its not that bad, to be fair I think all Diesel engines from this century need an 'ecu and harness' to work.

UJ's and constant velocity - interesting vid

The question of full time 4wd with uj's in the front hubs comes up sometimes, the vid explains the constant velocity problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmV4qwLfOMY

    galvanised bulkhead

Re the wiring, 80% of a Series 3 loom is in the bulkhead, the rest are the engine and light feeds basically. Autosparks do new ones if required. The dash goes rusty in the lower part where the heater ducting is, although is usually not too bad.

    galvanised bulkhead

Be prepared for lots of nuts and bolts that won't come off and will need cutting, a new seal for the bottom of the windscreen and seals for the vent flaps too and pedalbox to pedal housing seals/gaskets. Be prepared for the wiring behind the dash to be a mess from previous bodges, it also goes...
