Got an engine up for sale on ebay, I don't expect a fortune, it's an old LDV 2.5 lump, still its canny and good for a few more miles. OK, so here's the problem ; I'm getting questions like this:

Will this run without a ecu and harness.

Now I know by this very question that a) he has no intention of buying, in fact he doesn't even have a clue as to what it is, and b) I don't want to try to sell him it.

Help me out please, how would you answer his question?

I do so sympathize with you! I had a time waster phone me about the Morris minor I was selling! He went on to ask about the condition of every separate body panel he knew each by name and then when ID finished patiently answering his questions he thanked me and hung up???? Its unfortunate but THESE people are out there! Just don't let them irritate:you! Kind regards. Chris. :violent:

I wouldnt let that stop me from selling it!
Just politly explain that it needs no ECU, just a coil and a bit of wire he will be amazed.
In fairness he may be a young lad who hasnt a clue about old stuff, our son was shocked when I started a motor bike with a piece of wire, they often have no concept of how older stuff works

I think that I would be amazed with this coil and a bit of wire trick never mind him!!!!

Stating that it is an old engine from a LDV , Diesel to boot ( no coil required ) also two mins. to look it up on Wiki. So I come to the conclusion that its somebody who hasn't a clue, time waster??

ahh its not that bad, to be fair I think all Diesel engines from this century need an 'ecu and harness' to work.
