Dash looks correct for early Series 3, see it has no big square holes for venting into the cab, the original design just vented flap air up to the screen. If you were able to see the top of the dash, it should have very large vents on it.

Appears to have a 2A gearbox and door hinges, as you say, probably transitional or pre full production. It's been painted obviously, but looks pretty straight. Also, the rear light units are 2A/early S3.

Early 3, was not unusual for Land-Rover to use up parts from previous models. I once had a very early 2 that had several series one bits on it including gearbox.

The hole in the wing is the heater fan inlet. Apart from the door hinges it all looks pretty right. If you're interested ask for the chassis number - you can double check the age using it.

Agree with other it's very similar to my 1972 S3, but with different door hinges and in a lot better condition.

It's been taken apart and also re sprayed. Side lights should be above indicators. Vent seals painted over.
