The problem with lr chassis is the double skinned parts that corrode from the inside out. If it was me I would cut the crossmember off and check inside, if its still paint I think it would be savable ,so before replacing the crossmember I would expose other sealed sections like the a frame...

the thread size is 11/16 uns a special thread, you can find 2nd hand right hand taps on e bay but I had to have a left hand tap specialy made at £125:eek:
