From reading a bit k and n are pretty much unbearable even with dust and crap covered they filter amazingly well and have very little resistance

Dave Vizard did a test on a k and n after a Baja 1000 on a k and n preserved covered in mud and sandy grit the results were unbelievable.

Dave Vizard from the limited bits I've read tells it straight even tontenhig manufacturers if it's crap he tells them so!

K and n cone filters for me they even sell units to put the filter in so you could raise the intake or plumb somewhere cool.

Yes I like the Porsche K&N's with the water sheilds though they would need adapting as the base plate is for an IDA Webber but not as much work as making air boxes for cones.
I wish I knew someone in the states that would post me some £130 is a lot better than £300.

Why not PM West Slope Rover? He seems like a decent guy.

go to summit racing parts and check with them even with shipping etc could still be cheaper

Thanks for that, I have just had a scan through their filter list but they don't seem to do what I need, plenty of round ones but no oval ones for triple choke.

phone calls from a land line should be free. DIL calls less than 45 minutes is free

Ok I think I am sorted on the filters I have found a uk seller who can supply a pair of ITG filters for £110, still seems dear for air filters but will save me a load of work.

That's cool

Will need to find some kind of cheap answer to fit throttle bodies.

Spitfiremk1uk has just picked up some throttle bodies inc injectors from
A triumph motorbike to be fitted to a 2.25 project engine. He is sick of people saying they're crap because he assures me he can get around 150bhp with a complete rebuilt unit lots of mods and with throttle bodies an increase in low end torque.

We went to the Nats site this morning see the lay of the land and all that looks promising! Team recovery should be able to be seen by all spectators tntis year unlike last!

Do you remember Carl Amos of C&A Land Rovers with that red Lightweight comp safari motor with the tuned 2 1/4 that was 150 bhp on twin webbers.
so yes it can be done after all its only 65 bhp per ltr

Had a pall in Yorkshire years ago who's lightweight 2.25 had a Kent cam, 38 degas care and ported manifolds. It could leave V8s standing in the comps

Might be the same one, this one was red, all the body was alloy no steel frame, capping's or bulkhead, it didn't have an alternator or oil filter to save weight. Looked very light and did go well. Ran in standard leafer class, would be early 80's

This was beige and the owner was Linden. In the early 90s. I recall buying the overdrive and taking it out for my brothers 88. Despite running noisy that o/d is still in his 88 that has gone to live in texas ow

Hi Guys, I managed to get some air filters from Merlin motorsport, Porsche 911 jobs. They are bigger than I expected but I can get them in ok so today I have been making up some filter base plates and finishing the adapter/extensions.From my calculations the inlet runners needed to be longer for the rev range the engine will be operating in so I purchased 1/2 mtr of HDPE rod and popped over to a mate who has a lathe and we knocked these up. The top of the throttle bodies have an external lip and the extension has a lip machined inside, then the extensions were pressed onto the bodies and they are a tight fit, I still may put some clips on to secure them further.

It's been a while so just to update you guys. I am still working on the molds which are taking a lot longer to get right than anticipated. The transmission tunnel mold is about finished as you can see below. It is mostly made from alloy sheet, the hump is made from cornflakes packet and polyester resin then I made a backing frame out of wood and fiberglass, the whole thing was then filled and sanded, next was 3 coats of polyester pattern coat and 2 coats of high gloss polyester all flatted between coats and finally polished.
So now it is ready for waxing and then I can finally make the composite tunnel. The wing and rad cover are not far behind which just leaves the other wing and the engine cover, a bit of alloy sheeting here and there and the body work will be done.
I am booking some time off to have a good set too so hopefully things will get moving again.

I think you have built a croatia proto truck not a sunday special!

With your skills, knowledge and patience Id like to you build something with a nice budget:D

Thanks. It would be nice to build a big budget truck, but for myself I would still build an ALRC motor. I don't think I would build it a lot different, perhaps more new parts and farm out some of the work, oh one thing would be a Judd KV6 like they fitted in the MG touring cars but 2.8 LTR would be about 400 bhp.

Hi Guys, I started on the other front wing yesterday and am making good progress, I think I must of learned something from doing the other wing as it is going much faster, I might even get the pattern made this weekend.

I pushed it outside too sweep out the shop and as it was sunny my Lad took a few shots
