Not today but so far this month two new brake calipers and guide pins replaced by me, then a big kick in the nuts when my clutch failed. NOT A HAPPY BUNNY:mad:

Hello everybody.
Today was a busy day for me. Firstly I have found seats from a 3 door and with £30( yes 30) in my pocket picked them up. Dark grey with tiger print on inserts. Really good condition. I do not need 5 seats at the moment and old interior will be cleaned and washed and put in the garage for better times. Swapped without a hassle. Also thanks to fleybay found virtually brand new window regulator with rails and motor for a massive £17 so now my driver window goes happily up and even down.
I am awaiting a delivery of a new clocks so hopefully they will work in my MY2000. it was a 99p with £3 p&p so even if they not work I am not massively out of pocket.
There is a few plans for her but not for now. Friendly chap I got seats from dstill have set of 15" steelies with AT hankook tires. All same depth and kind so maybe I will give him a wee bell and we can come to some agreement about the price.
Thanks and greetings from Scotland...

JC they look spot on ;):) great job.
I am looking for set of fog/spots for my FL1. my mate works for fleet services an said he will have a look for some for me.

Nothing, as it has gone and I am missing it badly. The exit was faster than expected. Got a real hair dresser's car to deal with (MR2) then I should get a long term Freelander. Have a clear idea of what I would like, just need a suitable seller to co-operate.

Today I cleaned out the coolant header tank. A couple of months back, I noticed a small amount of black oil, accumulating around the top water mark.
This started forming after I'd done the thermostat mod.
I know the oil cooler has been replaced pretty recently, as it's less corroded than other engine components.
I've put this oil build up down to residue in the coolant, now able to migrate to the header tank, because of the increased coolant temperature.

So I removed the header tank, cleaned out the black sludge.
I then refitted it, connected up the pipes and refilled with fresh OAT coolant.

That's quite a bit of oil, hope it is just a bit of migration.

Out of interest, stuck the synergy back on, tuning part only, no MAF. Setting 2, made Sod all difference!! That MAF cleaner made more difference. Will run it round for a bit to settle down and maybe turn it up a notch.
So today's lesson, clean your MAF, if you want a bit more boost:)

The oil quantity was probably no more then a teaspoonful. It has been building up ever since I did the thermostat mod. I'm not overly bothered as I know how long oil can take to get out of the cooling system.

My synergy is set to 8 with MAF compensation turned on. That makes a good difference to torque.

Decided not to fit a snorkel as they are too 'hair-dresser' and frankly - utterly pointless unless you like the pose value - they have absolutely no practical value on a freelander.. They are like wheel choices - you like the look or you don't - as for performance - they make no discernible difference - down to the user if they want it / them to add to their aesthetic choice and no more..

Also the poly-bushes were considered as an 'upgrade' but then totally dismissed as absolutely pointless an having a negative impact on overall 'package'. Hard to fit and simply awful to drive with and utterly no performance increase at all - nothing positive - only negative.

Took some time and Really decided to look at the larger wheels and tyres and it was obvious that this was not conducive to good performance from any freelander. without lowering the overall gear ratio - which would still be cr&p in reverse. :( - so, they were not considered any further as they would be a negative impact. Increased 'torque' from evry mods et al - not a chance of making a difference at such low rpm as needed for true off road use.
And then - onto - 'Wheel spacers' were then considered for a few milliseconds then also dismissed due to safety / legal concerns. - also - no benefit apart from aesthetic again.

I DID though - fit a high level brake light bulb which was far safer and more practical.
The also a reverse light bulb.
Altogether, a very very productive day.
:D
