Help Help I'm been forcibly evicted from me Pikey wagon.. Some one has laid a trail of Cake crumbs to try and pure me out  :D

I won't go over what everyone else has already covered except to say that NO trailer or Caravan (Except for HGV trailers) in the UK needs any form of legal registration or taxation, at all. and can be parked on the driveway or if parked on blocks with the wheels removed where they then become a temporary building or SHED!!!

Freud says "Mmmm"

If they were liscenced you never have plant trailers or hire trailers. We swap trailers all the time at work and just a tralier board allows that. No idea how a tax system would work.

I wonder if Mmmm means that the Caravan Act does not mention wheels being required. Just because you take the wheels off doesnt stop it being a caravan. I could go into a lot of detail but the requirement is that it has to be capable of being moved on the road or by road transport. I sell Log Cabins that are mobile homes and not any wheels in sight and sometimes people put them on piles of blocks.

The one thing to check has been mentioned before. Check your deeds if you own the house or your rental agreement if you rent. If the planners knock on your door it is for the ancillary use of the house and there is nothing they can do.

Ahh but they has to be capable of been lived in. If 110W strips interior out I:E toilet and kitchen etc, then it ceases to be a caravan. Surely???? and becomes a shed or storage building.?

Legal definition here..

Rent Officer Handbook - caravan definition

and an extract.
LEGAL DEFINITION OF A CARAVAN

Section 29 (1) of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 a caravan is defined as
"... any structure designed or adapted for human habitation which is capable of being moved from one place to another (whether by being towed, or by being transported on a motor vehicle or trailer) and any motor vehicle so designed or adapted but does not include:
a) Any railway rolling stock which is for the time being on rails forming part of a railway system, or
b) Any tent.".

so no toilet or kitchen and it's not fit for human habitation. :D

There is a anti social order that can come into play Red. Is a Gray area really in a large housing group. Back garden stands a better chance to be over looked. Where parked in the drive way on blocks is in plain view for all to see.
And if a few neighbors object, It could become a issue. Don't think Neighbors would want it looking like appalachia

But it is being used ancillary to the main house, so as long as the main house has a toilet and kitchen it is still a caravan.

NO it's a shed as unfit for human habitation and it isn't been used as a supplementary room. it's become a garden room or shed. if someone was sleeping in it then it would be ancillary to the main house. I:E an extra bedroom. Have had this argument in Wales with Planning over a friend who had a plot of land and parked a 2berth caravan down there to keep his gardening tools and use it as a potting shed. Planning said it was a caravan he argued sucessfully that it wasn't fit for purpose as a caravan and it's main use was as a shed. Lots of peeps have put Romany caravans in their gardens and had same argument.

NO there isn't nothing in UK law classes a caravan as antisocial.

No one can object to you having a caravan on your drive or in your garden. Unless there is a clause in the deeds that bans them. Even then recent case law has ruled that prohibitons on new houses are restrictive and unenforcable.

What the fook has losing all ya hair gotta do with having a caravan.
