Just buy that and everything is done for you.
People travel round the world in the same set up so I imagine it will be good enough for the wilds of Wales.
1.) I dont really want a defender
2.) I dont have £17,000
Sounds to me like you need some R&D funds. Let me know what you’d like for your spare disco and my man will come and collect 😉😀
Ill have a look at my manual one soon just in case I need to pinch a few bits, then Ill let you know. I paid £555.55 for it, and about £100 for delivery (got it from the same town the second garage, the supposed LR specialist was, so mived both at the same time)
So assuming I neednt use any bits from it, £650 is what it owes me. Im all the way in north west Wales, so that may or may not be an issue for you?

No issue mate - I got a man with a low loader who will take care of all that. I’d just have to pay for it to get moved. Price is fine and you can take what you want apart from anything to do with it running lol!
My comment was a bit tongue in cheek but I’m happy to do a deal on that basis. Perhaps you could send some pics/vids of it in near future? No rush mate 👍🏻

Can do, pm me your whatsapp or a link to your facebook or something. Also open to selling them both if youd be keen on that

Just a quick question incase someone here knows.
IVA for chassis extensions - is it exactly the same for commercial and non-commercial vehicles?
I read a decade+ old thread on a ford transit forum that said it was different/easier for commercial vehicles, and if thats the case then does anyone know in what way it is easier?
Also, how does one increase the GVM/MAM? Say I were to get a commercial 300tdi D1, with a GVM around 2.7T, and I extended it to a 110" wheelbase like a defender hicap, (which comes as either a 3T or 3.5Tkg GVM) how would I go about having it certified for the higher GVM? Obviously I dont want to go any heavier than that because Ive only got a normal car license.
(And also, because I know someone will point it out, when I say "if I were to extend", what I mean is "if I pay someone else to do it properly")

Another quick question - will a facelift D1 body fit on a RRC chassis? And in that case I could use the RRC reg (possibly tax exempt) and use carbs and no cats.
Or even an earlier disco chassis, I think 1993 is the cutoff date for cats, and therefore carbs.

Yes a disco should fit a RR chassis.
Change body type on V5
Oh & get welding the D1 shell….

The shell isnt that bad, its been welded before.
Also, why change body type? Arent they both the same catagory?
Only downside I see is loosing payload.
Look at the body type on the V5… says Range Rover. Police man driving past sees a discovery..will he turn round ???
Don’t give them a reason,as for pay load, what’s the difference in the payloads? Iv never looked at the difference.

I think its 2540kg for an RRC and 2720kg for a D1, or thereabouts.
Also another random question, if youre rebuilding an R380 from a 300tdi, can you use 5th gear from a V8, and is it easy to get hold of the parts?

Unsure if the 5th gear from a v8 is different. I just swap transfer boxes

Yep, 5th is taller.
Transfer boxes on all the discos are the same, are they not? Defenders are shorter.
Basically, if I scrap my discos, is it worth me keeping my gearbox for its taller 5th gear, or can I just rebuild any future R380 I might own with a taller 5th gear?
