ok ive just sat down with a mug of hot ribena and figured it out... tis a hard game this!

I DO have salisbury axles... but with drums (knew that bit!)

So i should keep the salisburys until i can afford to fork out for a rear salisbury axle with discs. (saves some work on the 90 i guess)

Im keen to get everything off the 90 that i need and get back to a more original state and then let it go... im sick of seeing it outside the house!

Wen do you want me to collect it then. Will give you a pack of Jaffa cakes for it b it will be doing you a favour as your sick of it haha

Well that was an easy night, installed the snorkel, new headlights, 100w bulbs, and snow cover for the air intake.

its amazing how such a few simple things can transform the look!

Your not very good at this pictures thing are you? ;)

If your going to have a build thread you need to have pictures on it. lots of them! :D

just eyeing up some more bits for the suspension, spacer blocks basically... im thinking if i whack these in first... at least then the wheels wont foul on full lock (only just kissing) at present)

easy and quick solution, then i can add in the springs, shocks, disclocation cones, extended brake lines, double prop etc as i go. I have some +3" springs left over from my 90 sat in the shed, and the spacers for the front, so i just need some for the back :)

also ordered new windscreen wipers today, when they flick from side to side they make the most god awful thunk and its bloody annoying!!!

simple little things :)

Just eyeing up the 3" tube i want to make rock sliders from, not 100% on if my tube bender will cope... and if it does... i dont want it to put creases in the tube... never used it on anything so big. Any tips?

rear springs ordered just now for a 2" lift, already have a set of fronts and rears left over from the 90 that will fit the front,

At least that will mean i can turn without catching stuff on full lock.

just ordered a set of tree sliders temporarily, as its wrecking me not being able to jack the thing up with the hi jack. Will use them as a template too to make some out of 3" :)

This is turning into a feckin chequebook special!

Erm yes of course it is...and your point being what exactly? :D :D

no point really...

well i have just made a decision not to go for that double cab i was bidding on, someone else has just bid on it and i can just see it going for stupid money as its off a 130. The seller rang me and said someone was after buying the whole thing off him so its probably that chap.

So... sod it... ill build me own!

It would have cost me another £100 to pick it up anyway, and it needed loads of work welding (im trying to make myself feel better here)

Just bought a RTC steering damper by the way... what were we saying about chequebook special...

Anyone got any of the following they want to flog?

90 / 110 roof - condition not important so long as its straight.
windscreen frame
tub with bulkhead - again condition not important so long as the bulkhead is reasonably solid - either a 90 or a 110 will do again

I fancy something a bit special...

Found an interesting thing last night too, as i hadnt even lift the bonnet since buying it and it was very dark when i bought it ;)

no sodding airbox AGAIN. What is it with people running defenders with no airbox?

Im going to fit a military wolf one i have one left over thats in the shed. Should quieten down the intake a bit too.

The guy i bought mine from has done that.

200tdi disco conversion. However, the air intake in the wing now runs direct to the heater box, and it works! Really well!

There is instead a big old mushroom filter fitted to the hose that runs to the turbo...

The git that did this conversion has done the same into the heater box...bloody bodgers!

Now i have to repair the heater box intake or replace that too!

well i just did my first spray job on some panels with the paint im going to be putting on wombraider... FECK ME that stuffs strong! I could visibly watch it fuming!

expensive paint, but god damn the finish it gives it good! Very rough sanding down and the finish is great and a lovely shine without even polishing it. Fast drying too.

Oldfashioned steam engine paint! :)

I now have grey nostrils!

Well I got a few jobs done today on wombie.

New UJs on the front propshaft this time... still got lots of play in the transmission, but..... at least im no longer scared that one of the props is going to break!

Also fitted new seats, removed the woodwork out of the back!!!!

new horn (as the old one was really quiet) new windscreen wipers to stop the annoying noise, new bonnet release cable and mechanism (as there wasnt one fitted for some reason?) Storage boxes in the rear tub, also identified where the major oil leak is coming from... between the engine and gearbox... theres only a few bolts in there and the ones without the holes dont line up! and theres **** loads of horrible masticy rubbish around it. I think its coming from there... the patch of oil underneath correlates to that, but theres so much oil over everything its hard to see!

Least its keeping the chassis rust free

However... all the insulation the previous keeper had fitted was also keeping in a water leak! there was a pond in there under the stuff, so ive scrapped it off and will sort the leak out.

Also found this love thing...

love the previous owners idea on safety!

Old seats - Twill is so last year darling!

Our new "curry hooks"

New seats ( in the garden!) it was dark when i finished fitting them.

The storage boxes are great for hiding the dodgy back conversion!

Good to see you had a full day on the raider.

Looks like you have got your work cut out.

Oh and sorry to be a nuisance but Pat forced me to buy some tree sliders at the overland show today so I'll have to cancel my order now with you.
