How does one contact LZ Rescue? Might be a silly question but many obviously didn't know how to and I know Disco147 could have done with it. He called me asking for WLM's number but I didn't have it and was in no position to help out as I was limping myself.

yu join up to the service (search for the thread) offer to help peeps depending on what yu can - PM me n Ratty with yo tel number and if anyone (yu included) call either of us, we post on here and local peeps jump into action (at least with cameras ;)). Tiz open to anyone - but yu need to contact anyone that can post on here. Ratty and I have several (80 or so in my case) tel numbers to start spreading the word.

yeah but no but yeah but thats no good if no-one rings us

its actually better if lots of peeps have half a doz numbers or so, rather than 1 or 2 having everyones. Just in case we aint available. but the best thing is to get someone to post up on here if yu is stuck.

and put yo names up on the map - so we knows where yu is.......

Thanks To MFI, & WLM. just the right mix Bumps and bushes and plenty of Mud.

After such a good day what could go wrong, Mud thats What:rolleyes:. I am use to Water washing it out. but We only had mud that cooked.

22Miles from home it happened Flashing red Light Sream, luck would have it I to pulled into the services at warminster, at 17.55hr AA man has a look, @ 18.20hrs booked truck 21.15hrs Flat bed turned up. The bloke was not happy his truck was going to mud on it from my Disco. All He did was bang on about how bad his day had been:eek: @ 21.50hrs Disco on the Drive.:)

Just going to Smack Fook out of the Starter, with a big hammer, limp to a jet wash and sort the Rad out

Thanks Again Guy`s one Top Day

They had you waiting 3 hours for the truck? Jeez... If my rad wasn't clogged as well, Id've towed you home, mate!

I've given up trying to clean out my rad through the ac condenser and intercooler and oil cooler... Pulling it all out now to give it a proper clean!

Wish I'd discovered that the rad mounting bolts were underneath BEFORE I'd covered my driveway in mud.... D'oh!

If you have one or both of our numbers give MHM or myself a ring, If you don't have our numbers, stick a thread on LZ saying 'HELP!!! Lz rescue service required' and then post rough details on roughly what the problem is and where. If myself or MHM are online we can start the ball rolling. If we aint online, anyone with our numbers can ring us and let us know about the thread and we can then try and find who is close by and able to help.

its a pity peeps didnt contact Ratty or me on the LZ rescue - coz summat might have been able to be organised .

I passed one just West of Andover in a layby - lifted Disco - big tyres and four roof lights........ was that yu Sniffs?
Yep, we were limping home but finally gave up there. Only just made it in the end.

3 hours of hose pipe and gentle brushing later, seem to have got the rad clear. Now just need to replace the thermostat and refill with coolant. Glad the ban doesn't happen until next weekend :D

I'll have to get onto this lz rescue service! Made it back ok though after some rather crude bodging and resourcefulness!

i know what ya mean there clarky when i had me 4.2v8 rr i couldnt understand why it was getting to temp very quick and i was using the fans all the time, cleaned rad front n back for ages and thought it was spotless

it wasnt untill i moved the oil cooler out of the way i found this.

sorted it out, was a reasonably easy fix... just had a bit of a moment when I saw black smoke billowing out the back and found water and mud in the air filter... all I was thinking was "oh **** i've done a piston ring or maybe completely nakered the whole thing on my first outing"

I explained how I fixed it on the other thread though page 134 :D

This explains my overheating:

...and that was AFTER trying to pressure wash from the front, through ac condenser, oil cooler and intercooler!

Total time to remove rad - 10 mins
Time to wash crap out with thumb over end of hose - 5 mins

Beats 3 hours with a soft brush... Then again, I have no viscous fan or shroud to worry about removing (temp refitted the fan to help me get home though)

Sounds like you guys had an interesting day on the plains, and even more so getting home... Any advice to be given for those of us heading that way in a few weeks?

I was thinking of getting a rad muff and dropping it for the muddy stuff, my winch tray covers the bottom opening quite well anyway...

Either that or getting a pressure sprayer (window cleaner style) with a decent tank and washing it out before it dries...
