After a cracking day just thought I'd start a Fred for those that overheated with a clogged radiator.

I know me and JP did and we saw other landies in laybys too. Luckily we both managed to limp home with hopefully no harm done !

Yes I got done by the mud, limped home doing about 40 most of the way. I did consider stopping but was worried it might not start again.

there wuz a disco plastered in mud in warminster services with the bonnet up and an AA patrol with it anorl.

Me too... Thought I'd got away with it, after a field repair to my blown radiator hose... Only to discover the jubilee clip I scrounged from BB was a little too big to make a good seal...

Found Vinniejb at the same service station on the way back...Edit - same place you're talking about I think ratty He'd had to shut off for overheating as well, and couldn't get started again... AA were in attendance and as I left he was waiting for a trailer ride home :( ...hope you got back alright mate!

Incidentally, after completing my repair with a much smaller jubilee clip scrounged from Vinniejb, I couldn't get started again either as my battery had run flat!!! The sod of an AA man made me join up on the spot before he'd move his jumper battery 10 ft to the left to give me a jump! Got home ok in the end, though...

Just got home - clogged rad and knackered thermostat :( Guess what I'm doing tomorrow... Very nice RAC man sorted the rad out to get us back on the road. Thanks to folks who stopped and helped with wire brushes and friendly words... (Dunno why the nana - just looks cool )

I joined the layby club! not for overheating though... just had half of salisbury plains in my air filter! :/ some very crude bodging to get to halfords, to then get my pants pulled down for a new air filter 5 minutes before they shut was a lovely finish to a crackin day!
