Yes , I have to say everyone on this forum helped a lot and really take time even though I started from 0.

Couldn't agree more mate. Sounds like you might have bought a problem, but try not to worry. Nothing is unfixable on a Defender in my opinion. You will get it on the road soon I'm sure and I wish you all the best with it. Enjoy.

Thanks mate , I hope so too but it's hard not to give up at the moment !
 
Just tried to drain a bit of the tank out see if there was water , took about 5L out no sign of water at all, only nice clean diesel .
I was thinking about something , those fuel injector cleaners, would that have any effect on the FIP at all ? Or would that only clean the injectors ?

I think I read somewhere that the Defender exhaust manifold won't fit to the disco head, slight differences in the bolt spacing ?
Can't see it myself but don't know for sure.
A pic of the FIP position would confirm.

Yes I drained from the bottom.
I am trying to check the cam belt , I've got a good tutorial ( the same as the one I used for the head ) but I am already in front of a little problem .
Where do I put the flywheel pin and where am I suppose to line up the TDC mark ?

pin goes in underside of fly wheel housing might have a 13mm headed plug in it, pin sets engine at tdc wich also means crank key for front pulley is at twelve oclock which is a good check proving youve got the right slot in flywheel

Ok thanks, I gave up already , will give it another go tomorrow after more reading as the tutorial I've got isn't really for someone like me haha
 
Guys , I am trying to sort out the air filter that has been ciliconed everywhere , and I see a lot of water in there , could that be my problem ? Could I try starting the car with a rag at the end just to see how it react ? Thanks

Injector cleaner cleans everything inside the fuel system, but it isn't a cure for worn or broken parts. It certainly wont cure water running into your oil.

But when you get it going, it cant hurt to put a bit of Ecomax in the fuel. Helps with lubricity, boosts cetane numbers, and cleans the fuel system.
 
just remove the hose that goes to the turbo from filter and run like that
I did and just held it against the new air filter in my hand haha. No difference.
It dripped a few drop again down the exhaust pipe ... nothing compare to when I did the head gasket but a few drops

Ok will do , just thought I could have a bit of a clogged fuel pump, I am so lost and reading so much that it leads me everywhere but towards solving my problem

I would ignore what you read. Unless it comes from a Landrover manual or similar.

There are no quick fixes, and snake oil is usually ineffective. You need to keep on working through it until you find the problem and fix it.

First thing is to make sure that the water and oil are now separate, and that the level of both stays constant.
Once you are sure about that, if there is still an issue with the running, go through the usual things bit by bit. Air filter, air hoses, fuel filter, lift pump, engine timing.
If every thing else has been checked and is good, then is the time to worry about injector pumps. A pump will usually be leaking diesel all over the place long before you notice any issue with the running of the engine.

Ok , I am not sure what the lift pump is so will look into that, and will try to check the timing tomorrow, hopefully I'll get a compression tester as well so I can test it.
Water and oil being separated, I think so but not entirely sure , and since I can't really let the car run I don't see any level dropping

The lift pump lifts fuel from the fuel tank to feed the injection pump. There is no gravity feed, the fuel tank is below the level of the engine.

Why cant you let it run?
