I've ignored this pointless thread for ages, seeing as it was mainly pointed at Disco owners....... or so I thought.
However
If "trattor boys" were jealous of Disco's, Rangies and Freelanders (snigger) don't you think we would have bought a Disco, Rangie or a Freelander in the first place.
From my own personal perspective I find the Defender very comfortable to drive....... admittedly it's more comfortable in the summer when I can wind down the window
and it mabe drafty so I have to wear my coat if it's chilly out..... and the problem with that is ??
oh yes I remember that isn't a problem
Maybe I find it so comfortable because I'm a large hairy celtic neanderthal
I mean what pansies want heated seats FFS,
What next heated seat belts
Reclining ashtrays
Heated steering wheels ........................... No hang on thats a good idea

:5biagree: having had p38, disco and now a 110 i cant say the comfort issue is a problem (drove from darlington to birmingham about 180mls each way recently).
Test drove an FL2 HSE a few months back and in honesty it didnt float my boat (wallowed a lot even compared to the disco) but each to their own
Now the heated wheel idea is a good one
driving to work in -13 this week i couldnt feel my fingers one day

Reading all this reminds me my old Citroën 2CV6 back in the 80's last century. In wintertime I had to put an old coat over my knees, same as the horsechariot drivers used to do, and no need for aircon or to open a window for some fresh air as the doors itself gave more than enough draft by the way they moved and tried to fly open at 90 kmph. In accordance with the Defender I could open the roof all the way down till the boothatch, gave me the feeling of a cabrio, no aircon needed again. Was fun in the summer and in the winter (for the excellent road characteristics of the car) but for the rest .........
Oh yes, forgot to mention the gloves in wintertime (other posts above reminded me) I had those leather big heavy furred motorcycle gloves and fortunately there was room enough around the steeringwheel to by able to turn it with no problems, only -point they had was that I couldn't pick my nose while wearing them ......:hysterically_laughi
