Finally found a spare hour to swap out the life saving starter from Spain!

Brand new Denso unit installed - Somehow took longer and was more difficult in my equiped garage than it was in the sand in spain o_O

Lost the top nut somewhere n all **** knows where that went!!!

Starts like lightening now so very happy and now have a spare!

Got around to changing the damaged brake line today. Hadnt worn all the way thru and wasnt leaking but was close.

Goodridge replaced it very quickly for a very reasonable amount.

Looks like it had been rubbing on the inside of the tyre somehow

Fantastic. Got an LED indicator out and for some reason the alarm went off twice seconds after locking...

Oh and the TX box leak has now contaminated the handbrake drum so the handbrake barely works...

Really good when the MOT is looming.

Get a new rear output flange, seal and bolt kit for it, can be had quite cheap on that well known auction site, the drum and shoes will clean up with a bath in petrol :)

Have you considered an X-brake disc brake conversion?

Funnily enough I have all the bits read to go from when I thought the bearing had gone. Guess Ill change now lol was hoping to wait it out till I got a new box.

I have though reluctant due to the price

Yeah deffo been leaking...

Replaced the seal. Zero play the in shaft so thats good. I think the back to back seal has gone as well however.... that can wait till the box is changed though. Hopefully.

Heated rear screen 80% wired in and works!

Just got to move the fog switch to the Carling and fit the OEM heated rear in place. Will be a while as for the life of me I cannot work out how to swap that bloody fog switch to a carling...

Never a dull moment :confused::rolleyes:

Noticed the boost gauge was reacting very slowly but the car was driving fine.

Found this

Nylon pipe split right on the join with the brass! I think ive ordered a new compression fitting but not 100%.

For now...

I had similar on my gauge, was the pipe from the t piece att he wastegate.

Now part of my checks , but as long as the boost ramps up quickly , I know it is OK.
Cheers

MOT tomorrow  always a potential nightmare especially with the new rules.

Cleaned all the sensors. Loaded the ECO map (zero smoke even really trying!) Filled up with supreme diesel too. Checked all the lights etc.. Should be good.

Then ive got to borrow the Jeep for work  saving grace is its auto and its constant hilly traffic to work so happy for that bit.

MOT.....

PASSED! :D:D

2 advisories

Rear seat xmember corrosion
- i knew about that will be doing before next year

Rear trailing arm bushes failed - axle end
So much for genuine LR bushes ay... only a year old.

To add to the sensor issues ive not got a squeal coming from what sounds like the turbo. Comes in at around 2000rpm under load gets higher pitched then drops to a lower pitch.

Exhaust manifold looks fine, no soot deposits anywhere but will keep an eye.
Turbo/manifold looks good too
Inlet looks fine, no oily deposits as far as I can see
All the hoses look and feel fine (2 year old allisport so i cant see them failing)
Turbo bearings are fine too

Could be some air leaking out or could be a nick in the intake somewhere.

Boost gauge isnt plumbed in atm (waiting for parts)

Car seems to be running alright, been taking it all very gentle past few days.

So it turns out that somehow my MAP sensor melted, yes melted.

José sorted me a replacment pretty sharpish, should have it Monday.

Also decided to do away with the MAF bypass as it was not working 100%, it still cuts fueling in the top end which isnt good enough. With some help from @sierrafery and a mate Im building a MAF signal clamp, which should in theory work considerably better than current set up.

This means a new airbox lid and hose, got from a breaker not too pricey! :) just got to replace my stickers now  lol

Also going for a brand new MAF as mine is reading below 60 (reading 53 @Idle) I may also go back to a genuine paper filter instead of the Pipercross. I have a feeling the Pipercross is killing the MAFs as ive been through two genuine (VDO/Seimens) units in as many years.

This set up should work better overall, time will tell.

Boost gauge fittings have arrived too, so Ill get that plumbed back in properly this weekend.

Lovely, wolf ambulance?

I see she's sporting both civvy and military plates, probably had a full restoration from the looks of it.

What were you up to at Hever? Work?

Yeah thats what I thought, was crystal clean inside and out. Lovely example.

Work, sorting out some bespoke benches that had come a bit loose and wobbley!

Makes a grand chopsaw bench! Up in the minincastle grounds we built last year (before I started tho!)

Boot may well be full of sawdust now though

LOLZ it'll brush out, so long as it don't get damp!

Nice pic of your truck at work in the castle grounds :)
