Well we made it. Just.

Starter decided to stick ON as we came down a mountain track to join part of the mway. Landy totally died across one lane of traffic and half in another!

Was not a great moment..

Popped the bonnet and it was smoking bad!

Managed to bump it and get to the show and make camp.

Through a stroke of luck a guy I know through FB in Luxemberg had a mate coming to LRP from france! Range him uo 10 mins before he left and chucked in his landy for me. Just waiting for him now!

Got to say the drive here has been breath taking. The views are just amazing, utterly stunning place. Well worth the trip!

Up the top of a black ski run!

I did make it haha at the cost of a front shaft...

As you get older, mechanical symapthy becomes a little bit more of an issue. Only becaues it hurts your knees and back to keep fixing the thing...

Enjoy, looks like you are having a blast.:D more vids vicar...

Cheers

Yeah its an amazing, just need to learn what I can and cant do without breaking it! Especially over 500miles from home...

Mates got another video of doing another hill I made without breaking it!

Im home. The ole girl did well getting us back!

Just shy of 1400 miles there and back. Almost exactly 500miles from Les Comes to my front door! Not bad for a bush fix.

Now tucked up in the garage ready to strip and be fixed. Hopefully...

So. Many. Oil. Leaks

A little too much! Hahaha

HD shafts and CVs are on the cards now along with a front pegged LSD to hopefully stop the front breaking!

Well the front hub as been rebuilt. No play as far as I can tell.

Went for a spin everything is as tight as it used to be or there abouts.

Back in the garage awaiting oil leak results. Looks like the main culprit was a fair hub seal on the rear drivers side spraying slop everywhere.

Just need to changr a track rod end, far too much play for my liking.

Check all oil levels - which ill do on ramps at a mates garage.

Front diff oil may have too much oil in as a fair bit poured out when i removed the fill plug. Im putting this down to no oil seals on the stub axles and using EP90 in the swivel balls.

he buddy good to know your back safe n sound!

talk me through your wheels?
Spacers?
tyre combo?
needs extended arches?

Yep! Was nice to wake up this morning and not having to break camp or drive 400 miles haha

285/75/16 Cooper ST Maxxs - A pleasant tyre on road and very good off road. However the size combined with my power output tends to put a fair bit of strain on my axles, hence a few snapped shafts and CVs  As seen mounted on 16x8 Bowlers, balanced at Kwik Fit. So now looking at Ashcroft shafts/CVs with an Xcess4x4 pegged ATB to match.

30mm Raptor4x4 spacers - Billet ali, rolled studs, hubcentric and allow me to remove the flanges without removing the spacers.

Probably do need extended arches, I had 265/75 tyres on my 90 with standard arches but they only *just* fit.

They're 33" tall and I am looking at the same/similar tyres in the near future, but I think I will be opting to reduce the diff ratio to either 4.1 or 4.3 to make life easier on the axles.

I had a rough count up on Ashcrofts and they would be £1700 per diff for Ashlockers pagged and HD lower ratio R&P, pricey! But worth it, although you have to do them both at the same time which means it really hurts the bank balance all in one hit.

Imo I would look at Xcess4x4s stuff. He quoted me the "ultra build" (pegged, new bearings, new CW&P, superflange & ATB) for £1080.

I didnt want to mess with ratios due to it still being a daily and spends a fair amount of time on the mway, if anything I'm looking at a disco tx box.
