Lizard skin'd the roof today

Easy job! Will let it dry over Xmas then when its done Ill layer on some acoustic foam. Make it nice, quiet and very well insulated!

Also sorted out a rear interior light for when it all goes back together :)

Time for gin and food.

Merry Christmas all. Enjoy and be merry :) (try not to kill the inlaws!)

I was looking at the lizard skin stuff post repairs on my Disco, seemed quite expensive for me as I have a lot of interior panelling on a 3 door disco, will be interested to see how quiet you find it in the new year as I am certain to have a good few months of bits and bobs welding work until I finally get it finished.

Well ive done the doors, roof, bonnet and floor pans with it (but combined with other elements.) It is certainly quiet now. The main source of noise is from the engine/bulkhead. Eventually ill get around to that but its a huge job to do properly.

So quiet infact I can barely hear the exhaust, even foot down (gotta open the windows now :D)

2 Gallons will do a single coat on a 110 CSW which is good enough for most but I was going as much as I could do and being a little excessive.

This is epic!!!

You might even be able to go back to the more aggressive tyres you had on this time last year LOLZ

Ahhhh “egg on my face” might need to look at this, but it’s while off yet plenty other jobs first.

Did your 90 ever have a build thread ?

Sound I’ll have a read of it trying to find & work through some projects threads.

Question for you, as your quite hands on would you still buy your load cover again or next time get a more custom job done?

So ive wired up a rear interior light. I wanted it to work as a courtesy light so I tapped into the front light, took a feed off each cable on the front light and wired up to the rear one.

The rear light works but only off all the doors are shut and the front courtesy illumination is gone.

If the rear light is On and i open a door it switches off the front courtesy light comes on.

Ive done something wrong but not sure what?

Got the headlining back in and the side window demisters fitted. Bit of an annoying job as so much of the dash has to come out. That said only took a couple hours.

I managed to get my set for less than half price and honestly thats all its worth. The £130 price tag is quite steep for what it is, i mainly wanted the adjustable top vents which are pretty good tbh!

On full whack there is a fair bit of air flow and heat coming out the side demisters and minor loss from the top vents. No doubts they will help keep the windows stay clear. Quite nice being able to direct heat toward my as well.

Rear interior light, annoyingly only works if the doors are shut  also put in a few extra fir tree thingys, hold it all up a bit better.

Talk me through how you wired your second interior light... have you used another TD5 interior light fitting with the 3 position switch?

You can fit a second light, that will be controlled by the main light, in that it will just mimic whatever the front one is doing, provided you splice into the bulb feed pins only in your original light, and you bypass the switch in the second light, in essence wiring two lamps in parallel assuming you are using cob led blocks etc

Any other way it gets very upset and you have lighting bingo as you are experiencing.

It becomes a PIA if you want to work it independently from front. (cos its all controlled by the ECU/Alarm system)
So for me I need to control it independently as I have a van, (load area) so straight up perm live feed and job done.

However as you have a posh DC front light mimic/repeater is probably best.

Am i making any sense here?:confused:;)

That does make sense. It was another TD5 interor light. Wired up basically directly to the front light. All 3 wires attached.

So what you saying is remove the "third" wire and just have the live and earth? I may actually wire it direct to 12v, makes a bit more sense.

I was tryna be fancy :oops:
