Nice.... But a plastic impeller...
But then my last unit was an SKF unit in plastic and it was the bearing that failed after two year!!.
Anyhow, slowly but surely and after three weeks..... "I WANT MY '38 BACK"......:mad:

Should have bought a metal one from Island 4 x 4.
Morning Keith, I know, but all my parts through the business come from over here and I can benefit from the delivery at the same time I place orders.:cool:
If its only going to last two years then it could be a doltz unit!!:eek:

Trouble is, failure can cook the head. When the impeller breaks up the overheat is instant:eek:

Plastic will work fine. Only reason I had a metal was peace of mind to the fact if it goes after many tens of thousands of miles, I don't want chips of plastic going down inside the ports. My bearings blew apart and went through new rad with viscous, managed to limp mile or so to safety. Head now sounds bit rattly since but good flush should sort that.

Update!
New pulleys, all febi bilstein this time. Hopefully for longer than two years! New belts and a new water pump.
I had to charge it up using my Volvo and it's monster battery.
It took forever to start... But worried... Then she fired up! Very happy. Left it running and then it dropped a cylinder and started popping through the air filter box... Oh sh8t... I rushed to stop the engine.... At this point I laughed and excepted the fact the engine may have been buggered when the rad split due to cracked head or gasket failure at the time the rad burst...
So reluctantly I started her up again to check in the air box for the noise... And..... It ran like it should???
So after nearly four weeks of not running, fuel starvation as it on the reserve and on a slight slope and a touch of lazy camshaft follower and then all good in the world.:cool:

For now:eek::p

weekend mud bashing after a coupe of days getting over the fear of misfiring.. at the end of the day its a bloody car and it still manages to create a level of uncertainty...ok stop it.... ive been to bloody Italy in it and back along with other bods here who are clocking massive miles on theirs.
I endeavour to do the same with mine.... now shut the hell up with guns... get a gun hotel room..:p:cool:

Morning! The engine sounds exactly the same as before, apart from its scary fit!! It's around 204,000mls.;)
I'm going to have it running again this afternoon and see if everything is ok before I put it back on the road for the weekend.:cool:
