Hi, please accept my apologies if you aren't interested in this.

We have a fairly new website aiming at being a complete online resource for
car maintenance in the UK.

If you are interested in cars then at least it may be worth you having a
look, if not then thanks for reading anyway.

Why? We already have several perfectly good newsgroups. Web based groups
are more cumbersome. News is neat.

I disagree, on the web, there's the possibility to have online guides with
pictures. Although to be honest pictures aren't that much good sometimes
unless the pictures are of the particular make/model you need.

No its just a discussion forum.
Nothing more nothing less.
Therefore a newsgroup would be a far better and quicker place to get
an answer to a question

All posts from anyone at @privacy.net are killfiled and deleted before being read, as are most posts from anonymous remailers.
So dont bother

I know its not for everyone, thanks for looking anyway.

You missed the point. Your site isn't "a complete online resource for
car maintenance" - it's just a base install of phpbb. Anyone can do
that. You haven't created something useful worth telling people about -
you've simply installed a bb. A plain bb is a slow, cumbersome
alternative to Usenet.

With respect its not just a base install of PHPBB, there are about 10
mods on there which I don't expect many people with a basic grasp of
computing would find difficult. Also I said it is aiming at being a
complete online resource which implies it isn't yet.

Oooh! 10 mods! Did you install them *all* yourself?? The excitement!

Once again, you miss the point. Your site isn't a 'resource' - it's a bb
with a few posts on it. It may /become/ a resource if lots of people
choose to contribute to it, but it isn't in any way a resource in its
current state.

I'm sorry I couldn't get the www.spamming-****.org link to work. Are you
sure you typed it correctly?

I don't consider my original post to be spam, in what way is it not to
do with the subject matter of all of the groups I posted it to?

I'm sure most people would take offence more with your language and lack
of common courtesy than a polite invitation to look at a website that
is, again, to do with the subject matter of the groups it was posted to.
There aren't any age restrictions on usenet so I think your reply is
very irresponsible.

Oh, do **** off with that attitude.

You deliberately spammed usenet to draw traffic to your pathetic site.

You're also guilty of cross-posting to inappropriate groups. A single
post to maintenance you may have got away with, but 8 groups is taking
the **** more than a little.

In terms of language, this is usenet and is to be expected, usenet isn't
a place for kids, it would be an irresponsible parent that allowed
unsupervised access to usenet.

I'm sorry but I think it's now you who is missing the point. I agreed
that an install of PHPBB is very easy and to install 10 mods would be
easy also "I don't expect many people with a basic grasp of computing
would find difficult". Surely you can understand that means I'm not
trying to gloat about being able to click next a few times? But you
still have to be sarcastic about something which isnt actually there.

I'm having difficulty trying to understand why you keep disagreeing with
me by saying the exact same thing I have said then saying I am missing
the point?

I said it isnt a complete online resource yet implied by the fact I said
it is aiming to be, then you say it may become a resource which is
pretty much exactly my viewpoint then say I miss the point. I think the
point I am missing is why you keep disagreeing with me by agreeing with me.

Do you think they'd find it offensive if I called you a dull ****?

Thats one of the advantages of a BB over usenet, the ability to
moderate. REAL spam wouldnt last very long on there.

But I welcome anyone visiting if they would like to post something to do
with the subject matter, a link to a website etc if done in a polite and
open way much in the same way my original post was.

Yes, without doubt. I didn't realise I had met you personally?
