1999 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 TD5 STATION WAGON GREEN on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Motorcycles Vehicles (end time 21-Jun-09 22:02:18 BST)

What is your opinion on this please people, and if it is what it says on the tin (So to speak) what would you be willing to pay for said vehicle
Been watching quite a few on Flea-bay, and VERY few are reaching their reserve. Is this simply because they are not worth the brass, or are people simply wary of buying off there? An example would be a 110 Station Wagon that was up at the dealers for 15k, got to just over 10k (reserve not met) on said web site. Would value your input, Cheers :clap2::clap2:

10k is alot of money for a car right now, that's what the problem is, especially when a good percentage of people are trying to reduce running costs and not be so 'unnecessary' with vehicle size and costs.

Newer Puma engined Defenders are suffering even more I hear, probably due to the harsh on your wallet tax rates now introduced.

Looks like a good clean 110 - haggle down but she looks straight and "cherished"

This looks a good one. As a TD5 one of the big things to look out for is the cylinder head, where they leak diesel into the sump and after a while go bang if it gets bad enough.
Check the engine oil level and make sure it's not over the max mark and give it a good sniff! This fault is about £1,500 to £2,500 to fix depending on how you source the parts and do work.

My TD5 CSW 90 with 48k miles is a little tired in the gearbox dept but spent its first 42k towing for a living so no surprises.

All in all she looks good so pay what you think she's worth to you. I would say £9k is about right, the photo looks like she's about 1" down on the back end springs from where she should lay, which is at least 1" higher at the rear axle than the front. best measured with your hand between wheel arch and tyre. (or a ruler!) Cost to fix about £120 tops. Them side steps has got to go!
Watch for:
1) Oil leaking from handbrake and front end of rear diff. circa £50 each or pence DIY
2) Knocking while turning, CV joints on front Circa £200 each side
3) Too loud a knock when taking the slack from reversing to moving forwards, worn transmission / UJs / rubber bushing ...
4) Rust...
5) Wet front carpets /puddles under the mats, leaking bulkead - windscreen seal circa £50 at a dealers

just some tips, other than that she looks great!

i bought mine on ebay recently and cant complain, shes better than i thought it would be and got it for a good price, ebay is a strange place to buy from realy, mainly due to the blind nature of the beast. the other thing i noticed whilst looking at various 110 was the bizzare prices some were going for! i noticed some going at least a grand or so higher than the vehicle would warrant, but also you do get the bargins if your lucky.

must say however i spent 3 days after pressing Buy It Now pacing furiously thinking" what have i bought! its from the coast you idiot its going to be rotten as hell!" ultimate form of self abuse

Thats a nice looking 110 but not £9000 nice, its 10 years old and we are in a ression. I know defenders hold there value but no way thats over the top. I have the same but its a 3 seater van (well 2 seater now) and I bought her 3 years ago with 10,000 less miles, and 1 owner for £3000 less than than that. There is no way a station wagon is that much more expensive, maybe £3000 difference if they were the same year at the same dealer at the the same time!

Thanks for that, I'm just trying to find someone who knows about Landy's them I might go and have a look with them, I want to learn, but at the moment just wouldn't know what I was looking at, and buying private you haven't really got a much comeback if it all goes tits up. Cheers.
