Windscreen washer heater - Anyone tried this?

Looks like that Swedish one maybe has the brake pipe part moulded in, hopefully it's moulded in lead or something so that there's lots of contact, if it was moulded in plastic it would again struggle with heating the water sufficiently...
 
Went out today to start my "home made heater" by rapping some small bore poly pipe round and round the heater hose as I don't have any copper brake pipe, but there's not much rubber heater pipe to play with, some of it is metal and it was getting fiddly and cold, so I thought I'll start it again another day and then went off to the warm pub.
 
Thought it looked a bit like the 'swedish' one earlier in the thread??

I'm looking at improving my washers a bit more................

Second washer pump fitted to my washer tank - electrics linked to my first pump and a y piece :)

Should give a lot more pressure to the system :)

The clue's in the earlier post - it was dark. :eek::eek:

It fitted really snuggly behind the old unused MAF bracket - I'll do some photos this weekend. Took 30 mins, most of which were trying to work out where to place it. :D

Dodddle!
  • Put the heater by the MAF bracket.
  • Disconnected the pipe from the T-piece and plugged it into the heater inlet.
  • Put the new pipe from the outlet to the T-piece.
  • Connected to +ve and -ve on the 2nd battery as per instructions.
Given extra time I'll put more cable ties on to tidy it up and shorten the +ve wire.

Thing is, D2's and above have the washer jets mounted on the bonnet, ours on a D1 are on the windscreen wiper part, hidden away, so will involve cutting the bonnet to fit them, and a whole lot of more of pipe etc to get to the new mounting positions.

Can be done, but not a straight forward swop.

It's a pretty uninspirational installation!!
