anyways now that the SA numpty has finished answering a question that hadnt been asked eres wot i thinks based on what i has done fer meself in the past
good plan to keep the battery/s seperate - it isnt a big deal to get a battery charger on an extention lead connected once in a while to keep them topped up
12V winches appear to be cheaper and easier to buy than the 24v ones, i suspect the 24V ones are primarily designed fer heavy duty work and would be a bit OTT fer what you need (unless you get one at the right price)
having 2 batterys is a good plan, just use one keep one fer a spare in case you do more than expected and the first one goes flat
i allways carry a Trifor but when i know i've got lots of hauling to do i use a 12V cheapo winch that's been bolted to a sheet of 1/2" plate which is then bolted to the load bay - this can be taken out/fitted in less than 5 minutes
