Land rovers are superb if you live in Britain because the parts are cheap and easily available.

Yes they do go wrong, but they are better than most cars when they are working. They are pretty cheap though for the amount of **** they will put up with.

It must be hard for you though because of your location :(

ERR! because it says LANDROVER on the front;)
I can drive it without having to put me right arm out the f@@king window:p
It's ENGLISH and it doesn't look like a wobbly jelly on wheels. Nice big square box - Just like 4x4s are supposed to be:D

What wrong with it , why so cheap?????? is motor included?

lol its not for sale pmsl yeah its complete had 7k spent in it in repairs in the past 3-4yrs front bumper damaged ( old boy and a gate post ) and both rear 1/4 panels dented ( again old boy with big trailor and proves he couldnt reverse properly!!! :p ) other than being really ditched inside and out ( ok was ) chassis is mint very little corrosion inc surface stuff to the fact under the rear arch is still matte black and u can see the chassis number clear as day!!! still got 10 months tax and 8 months mot!!! due to its condition asin grime wise from his dogs etc no one wanted to buy it after he passed on so i made and offer and it was accepted ive known the car for 7 yrs his previous motor was the same so ive worked on them all 90% of the time for the past 11yrs so i knew the car well its just an honest motor in need of tlc..wich its gettin as u can see in my sig lol

I bought my '96 Disco as my no claims needed using or I would have lost it (2 year rule). I have a van for work and a Saab 9-5 for carting the family around in. This is the 2nd disco I have owned and they are just the best in poor weather conditions. I live in a rural area and love the feeling of invincibility the Disco gives in the snow when no other bugger can get anywhere! That said, I am sure that the novelty of tinkering incessantly will soon wear off.

We had a similar disco in work, absolutely minging inside.

I decided the best action was to remove seats, door cards and interior trims and all carpets and jetwash the lot outside.

I am still amazed how well disco carpets clean up, I have done hundreds of vehicle carpets and discos are always the best result.

Cleaning with the jetwash gets all the **** out, all of the crevices clean, and no **** left behind trims etc.

That car went from smelling like dogs arse crack to brand new smell.

Recommended method :)

I bought my 14 year old Discovery so I don't get stuck!
My neighbour gloats like a 2 year old with his new (bmw X3) toy, let the fun begin this winter when I have to winch the poor cnut out!!!

I bought mine because my ninja sperm got the missus up the duff this being our 4th was looking at galaxies etc but for price, seats, and condition a 21 year old Disco fitted the bill I also live in a rural area and its a bit annoying not being able to get out of my street in the snow. (Well thats what I told the missus, nothing at all to do with the fact I've wanted one since I was 8 and the first one came out)

I now have 7 seats an easily fixable vehicle and am looking forward to some fun in the snow before rebuilding proper starts next year:D

I got bit by the Land Rover bug just over 18 months ago.
I took my Freelander 2 to Parkwood 4x4 in Feb '10 and had an amazing day out with most of the 'black routes' conquered. Inevitably, the underside took a bit of a hammering so decided I needed something far more forgiving and easier/cheaper to repair/maintain.

In April 2010, I purchased a 1994 manual Discovery 300tdi but unfortunately, I knew little to nothing about them at the time.

The next 12 months were going to be a huge learning curve...

Long story short, I ended up with a bit of a basket case which I ran for 12 months - a basket which was never going to go through another M.O.T. due to the usual excessive rot. It was also heavily stripped out for green laning and had very little left in the way of sound deadening or comfort, so decided to keep the good bits & scrap it in April this year.

By now, I knew what to look out for and was on the hunt for a Discovery 300tdi project given the fact I now had various spares & off road kit for one.
In April this year, I managed to source a 1994 Auto (non sunroof model :5bhurray: ) with rotten body but mechanically sound M.O.T. failure for £500. It was factory standard & had a near mint interior, so decided it was a good base for the restoration which was to follow.

Little did I know exactly how far I was going to go with this "restoration"...

A call to YRM Metals soon sorted out all of the replacement metal I needed. This included a complete rear cross member, both front inner wings in their entirety, full length inner & outer sills & a battery tray.
The boot floor was cut out of the last one as it was still fairly new. Various repairs were also needed to the inner rear arches & front footwells.
Various off roading kit was then transferred from from the last one. This included the HD steering bars, steering guard, OMP Racing bucket seats, a Pro Comp 3" lift kit, extended brake lines, dislocation cones, rear shock droppers, cranked trailing arms, EGR valve removal kit, de-cat & straight through mid pipe and CB radio.
I've since sourced a winch bumper, roof light bar, rock/tree sliders, adjustable panhard rod, HD rear bumper, a set of steel modular rims on Special Tracks, various clear lenses, a set of rear tinted windows and the highly elusive fuel tank strap for a bargain £10!
A set of late Disco2 light clusters are also waiting to be added thanks to an early Xmas present from the Mrs!

7 months on and I'm now coming to the end of the restoration having replaced most of the external nuts & bolts, all window seals & weather strips, re-lined head lining, re-lined the entire rear floor with Noisekiller matting, all carpets stripped out & cleaned, anti-roll bars & tow bar removed, bump stops removed and (soon to be) replaced with extended ones, all redundant holes rubber sealed, various interior bulbs renewed, a new bonnet release cable, brake disc guards removed and half a tin of copper grease applied here & there!

Got a few more bits & pieces to get for it to make it a fully off road prepared weapon of choice. Just hoping it passes its M.O.T. next month so I can get out & actually enjoy driving it in the winter green lanes ahead! :crazy_driver:

 To be fair, the ground was rock solid and have no doubt that this aided its way around the site. :D

Became fixated with my Dad's Disco 3 when he insured me on it for my 18th. Fell in love with it when he let me take it off road. Passed my trailer test in it and was pulling an average 3 tonnes a day... with ease.. what a machine. Used it all the time, off road, on road.. in snow! an epic machine.

A year later and a few saved pennies i've finally invested in my own Disco 3.
2005 2.7 TDV6S. Chuffed to pieces. Pick it up on Wednesday... can't wait!!!

I got my Disco 1 Dti from an associate 3 years ago,
was very very cheap, was T & tested, J plate manual.
factory black with period grey / silver side graphics.
was my 1st landie, but with it came 3 months last summer of underneath cutting/welding & fabricating.
it sat for another year not used (properly)
started using it in earnest this summer when my old rusty moondao went bang.
Old landie brings me smiles for miles, but have had one or two niggles reciently.
cam belt went, had help from the brilient help online in LZ.
now running 50 - 50 veggie oil successfully...
run landie through car wash yesterday,
(dont take the p!ss either)....I`m disabled...sort of...
it came out shining like a shilling up a sweeps arse again...lol....I just stand and look at it and smile.
Would I change it, well, not if I can help it, but must admit, age (mine) and some illnesses do make it hard at times to change gear lots in heavy traffic
(loosing leg muscle strength)
If sh!t come to shove, I`d have to look for an auto version I think..

If we get all this doom & gloom about deep snow soon,
what better way to travel eh...
just love `em....
If your out and about in Clacton areas of essex, give us a wave,
girls, give us a flash....:D

Ho why did I buy a disco.... Well it wasn't because there cheap to run... And I liked driving s111 and 90's when I was in the army, but I do like my comfort, hence the disco td5, I did have a jeep before the disco, but my wife much prefers the disco, so do the dogs, more room in the boot

Bought mines kinda by accident  .Worked on a friends 200 and his 300,didnt really like the style (or the rust) so ruled the disco out. Having trawled through countless adverts for 90s and I mean loads I settled on a few that caught my eye.Spec was wide open I needed a beast for the snow (and I kinda like the quirky internal water features lol).Been trapped twice in 2 yrs never again last time was an emergency :( I wanted an uber tacky landy lol Getting ****ed off with the uber high prices. I even, in a moment of madness considered a P38  Long story short a mate of mine put me onto the TD5 Disco loved it, bought it, then researched it  I now have a 99 plate bronze 7 seat mint TD5 with an ACE leak and not much else wrong, stuck falken ATs on her for the snow and just gonny sit back and see what happens now.If she fails me shes getting a diff lock and still no good shes gettin shot. Still gonny get the landy though
