OK, c'mon then, hands up! My vote would've been for Horse Apple's Overfinch LSE, but I think that has now been sold to make way for his 3-door RRC project.

So, who on here has the best RRC? No rules as to what makes one "best" - it could be a mint early 3 door, a last of the line soft-dash, a mint limited/special edition or even a superbly finished offroader.

In all honesty, mine isn't bad at all (a late model soft dash on air suspension) but the paintwork round the back end lets it down and the boot carpet needs replacing/cleaning! Other than that, and with a good polish and interior treatment, it could easily be brought up to a very high standard - and I intend to do just that this summer.

Anyone want to submit theirs/someone elses RRC for the title?

Both my Classics have been the best ones I have had in terms of fun...the P38's are ruddy brilliant and I wouldn't swap for the world, but the Classics have a certain cheeky charm...

I put up my bashed and bruised but totally brilliant 3.9 Vogue SE on Gas with EAS for the running as even though it wasn't much to look at and monkeys in Maraakech had ripped the vinyl on the rear quarters, bent the wiper arms and scratched the ****e out of the roof...but in 3 years it only ever broke down once, and it cost £12.50 to fix....pity some total c**t nicked in last January, trashed it, then set fire to it.....

In an ideal world I'd have the P38 for daily use and a Classic to play with.....

I think you have to actually own the car Saint, otherwise Horse Apple's Overfinch would probably take the crown to be honest, that thing was lurvely!!

Did you drive your RRC to Marrakech then? That must've been the most reliable RRC ever, wish I;d only spent £12.50 on mine...!

I'd like to nominate my 4.2 LSE. In Ardennes Green with saddle leather. I've corrected the paintwork with an orbital polisher so that gleams. The leather is mint as in apart from the drivers seat it looks like the other seats have never been sat in. The roof lining needs doing, more because it looks a bit grubby than is sagging (although it is a little).

It has 2 underslung LPG tanks and one where the spare wheel sits giving usable capacity of 130 litres and still keeps the original petrol tank. It preformed faultlessly on a 3000 mile round trip to Southern Spain in the summer and when we ran out of LPG in Spain and switched to petrol we had covered 850 miles before we had to fill up, not many V8's with that sort of range.

It has magnecor leads and fresh plugs so she doesn't miss a beat at idle or under load and the burble through the straight through stainless exhaust is music to the ears without being intrusive.

I booked up the ferry from Denmark to Norway today for our trip to see the world ski flying championships and the Classic got the vote ahead of the P38 for the trip because of the extra legroom and the fact I've got more confidence in it than the P38. I'm sure the old girl will handle the 3000 mile round trip in minus temps as easily as it handled the Spain sunshine.

All in all a fantastic motor that only misses the original EAS. It was on springs when I got it and with the underslung tanks there's no going back.

I'd like to nominate my 4.2 LSE....

Sounds like a lovely car, certainly pushes mine into 2nd place - for now!! Bring on the summer...

Is there a lot more legroom in an LSE than a P38, then? As they share the same wheelbase - I guess the P38 has a bigger boot so the back seats must sit further forward?

I really wish mine was an LSE at a time, although I do love my soft dash and rarely carry 4 or 5 people, it seems silly that such a big car has such little rear legroom!

What preparation are you going to do for the Scandinavia trip then, if any? Also, any pics of yours to support these claims of loveliness?!

Loads more than a P38. Even if you're 6ft you can virtually stretch your legs out straight. The boot is smaller than a P38.

Preparation includes draining a small bit of coolant off and topping up with anti freeze to make it a stronger mixture. Ignition in tip top shape. My tyres are all fairly new but only General Grabber TR's, carry a set of chains but I've never had to use them before in Norway. Main roads are ploughed on a regular basis and if you venture off the beaten track and get stuck, you just dig yourself out with a shovel, can be embarrassing when a local goes by in his ford fiesta with studded tyres and looks at the English numpty in his big 4WD:eek: But to be honest you'd have to be there most of the day before anyone goes past, its remote in places to say the least.

As for piccys, got a new camera so hoping to get some good shots whilst away. Got my LSE from 1992LSE a member on here, lots of good pictures of the old girl in his album.

im greedy then got two
lse soft dash original 160,000 miles unloved but on the road to recovery
100" soft dash fixed all the bugs land rover didn't handles better than any other classic in the country is one of the fastest with it original land rover engine but still well modded and get 23 mpg what more could you want.

pics on my web site if you are interested

I have to be partisan and vote for mine, a '93 LSE 4.2 in Ardennes Green. It sports the original Land Rover Roof rack and brush guards and now has a vintage Thule Land Rover clamshell cartop carrier. It has a Bilstein coil conversion, which I know my be a detriment in its evalution, but I honestly think that the coils make it a stouter rig overall. It has 104,000 miles on it and I bought it for $500.

Cheers Mike for the nomination.

It was a rather good wagon and essentially as new.

The 3 door will be even better when finally complete. :D

It was a lovely car, gutted I never got to see it in the flesh! How's the 3 door coming along?

Slowly. Pretty much have all the exterior original parts now and all the metalwork like door frames, quarter lights, grill, lamp surrounds and rear plate holder have been refurbed to better than new and powder coated black. The wheels and bumpers have been refurbed and powder coated in grey.

I haven't yet decided on the engine option but the next step will be to send the car off to JE for all the Zulu/Dakar half shafts, diffs, roll bars and suspension plus beefier brakes that still fit the 16" Rostyles.

I think it'll then go to Andy Robinson for a bespoke cage and then I should have decided what to do about the engine.

Once that is all done it'll be off for a panel off respray and its interior retrim.

Then a quick test run to Italy to see how many speeding fines I can get :D

I kid myself that mine is the best, when it works!!!

Been great since the new alternator, goes
Like stink, driving with confidence etc......

Transmission cooler has bust today so the Range Rover Classic 1994 has been demoted to "bag of ****e" status again!!!

Until its fixed again. :5bbeatdeadhorse5:

Is this a disease or something?
