Hi i am hoping you guys can help. I have a 1996 Defender 110. Have replaced all four bearings and races this year. However every time the play is adjusted out of the bearings within weeks it is back. Not only have i adjusted them up but it has also been to APB trading land rover specialist for adjustment but yet the play has stiil come back. Any ideas would be much appreciated

Inner races shouldn't wear and certainly not in a week?? sounds far more likely that the nuts are loosening up in which case replace the hubnuts and locking washer and check the threads on the stub axle or better still just replace the stub axle, nuts and locking washer anyway.

have seen some Britpart ones go quicker than that down here - not fitted by me - Timken only for me, as far as adjustment goes they have been re adjusted by an Indy so they would have made sure that locknuts / tab washers would have been good to use. How did you pack the bearings with grease before fitting?

are the bearings seating all the way home on the stub axle ? . sounds like there could be a burr on the stub holding the inner race away from being fully seated .

only way to know for sure is to remove the hub an see if the inner race slides all the way to the bottom of the stud . If not you have to sand/file off the burr on the stub till it does . that might cure your problem if the locking tabs etc are ok .
