Trewey's right about not needing spring compressors to change landy springs. They can be dangerous but dangerous or not, they are a necessary tool when changing the front springs on most cars.

Chill out... You may have been a mechanic for the last 14 years but it doesn't mean that you know everything about every vehicle.

Anyone that says they do is a liar.

Never claimed I do... However, if I've deemed a set of coil spring compressors will make my life easier, what's the problem? Why don't I need them? What am I doing with them? An I fitting +3 " or bigger springs? An I fitting spacers? Have I bought the compressors so that I can modify them to do the job I actually need them to do? Monkey nuts or whatever his name is was the one who came along and told me I don't need them...how would he know? Most of these forums are full of clueless idiots who talk a good job, but actually don't know their arse from their elbow..

I think you'll find that Trewey was just giving you some advice which could have saved you some time and money.

Yes there are a lot of idiots on forums, there are also a lot of people that know what they are talking about. The idea is that we all help each other in different ways. We don't just talk about landys ya know.;)

There are also loads who of peeps that think they know it all.

The idea is that you sort the wheat from the chaff whenever you look through or start a thread.

I've been a breakdown mechanic for 15 years but I'll still ask for help or advise even from the idiots. Sometimes you need another persons take on summit to make the penny drop.

Just test drove my new wheels.:mad::mad:

One of the new wheels is not running true. The wheels are fairly beat up but the centre isnt in the centre if you know what i mean! They were sold to me as used! not f&*ked :frusty:

Why is nothing easy hey! So now im going to see if it can be fixed! nightmare FFS

Just to shut Buckshot up........ I have now cut my roofbars down to size. 147cm apparently is the normal size for a defender roof bar, I've chopped mine down to 150cm. I couldn't be arsed to test fit em though. I can't leave em on permanently due to the height restriction at the park and ride.

150cm should be fine Ratty - when I used my Rhino's last weekend I thought a couple of extra cm wouldn't have been a problem:)

Cheers SH:)

The rear tub is summit like 163cm wide so I figured I'd be ok with the extra bit of length.

I also want to mount a side awning on it (when I find the time to make one) so thought that the extra length may be useful for doing this. I'm hoping to use a couple of the load stops to mount it to. I want to make it a bit like a roller blind so I can just pull it out and then wind it in with a handle (a bit like winding down caravan legs) to pack it away. It's just summit else for going on the to do list.

Look at the roll up Awnings like they put on travel trailer/horse trailers. Surely you can find one off of a wrecked one :D

After driving back last night and wondering if the old wives tales are true after all and I am finally going blind decided to take of me headlights and clean them inside and out.........blurdy hope it makes a difference
