Yep.......even tried running back to battery -ve, couldn't even get it down to 3 was about to start cutting the whip till I lifted it
Did you have it on the bonnet before? Or on spare wheel carrier or somewhere?
If the whip is too close to any large lumps of metal (i.e. windscreen pillars or tailgate etc) it'll give you a poor SWR and even poorer range. Best place is either on top of a bullbar or front of the wing/bonnet, or on the roof as you found out
