Yep - made no difference. But then isn't it temp controlled and so maybe if 2 or 3 plugs are working it will just turn off because those are hot - and so only start on 2 or 3 cylinders.......which actually sounds about right.

How long do you expect glow plugs last? It's a '96 with only 35000 miles, and I can't see any sign in the history of it having new plugs fitted.

The lucas plugs have a two year warranty on them, but ye can get a set pretty cheap on ebay.

ahhhd av thort if yo use bio for the fust time in a mota and that mota doe start or drive like it did on diesel then its the bio thats doin it.... simples :D:D

You shouldnt need glowplugs on a 200tdi unless it super cold outside....I know someone who aint even connected his up yet.
Ah don't need thum on mine Si. When ah furst got the bus they weren't connected. Ah connected mines back up a year or so ago but never wait and just turn the key furst time;)

mite be easier to guess wot yo ay got a set of in yo garage :D

He hasn't got a diff guard :(

Si - shall I just drive round your place and keep fitting all your spare parts until it all works fine.....sounds like the best idea to me :D:D:D:D

Don't s'pose you got a wading plug as well lying around....I need one of those too :D

And just in case you're wondering how much I'm trying to blag off you.

Anything you lend me you can, of course, have back after the weekend.......I'll have time to buy stuff myself before we go out again.

Sorry it didn't work Tim, but it's the first port of call for not starting. If you've only recently started using Bio and it's had a stint of 2 years being stood, I think I'd now clean out the sedimenter, change the fuel and air filters and change all the oils and filter.

Bio helps clean the pipes out, so there's a chance the sedimenter and fuel filters are ful of ****e. When I started running on veg it took a couple of filter changes before the system was cleaned through and stopped clogging up.

Glow plugs shouldn't be necessary on a 300 .. BUT ... mine started far better after I changed them (Cheap off ebay) for new ones, whether I let the glow run or started straight away! Battery also has to be good, with good earth connections.

I've changed the fuel filter, but not the sedimenter yet....it's a sod to get to so need a bit more time to crawl underneath. (Tips welcome ?)

I actually timed it this morning - it was only 6 secs until it started, but it felt like 20-30 !!!!!
