That's my own tactic. There are only a few Defenders here in Ireland, and they are not generally appreciated by the Man on the street. Mechanics at my own test centre have an appreciation of the Defender and always gather around to discuss the car.

I give it a very good under body clean, fit a few new clearly visible components and, fingers crossed and prayers said, it's passed three times on the trot without any advisories. :p

Greased my props, well overdue : )

Fixed the horn on the 90, it was making a noise like noddy farting. Full of muck from the last time playing.
Plus found it has started marking its territory by leaving a nice dollop of grease on the drive from the swivel. New seal ordered.

Cheers

Ive pressure washed the underside of mine after a play in a local quarry .

what jobs have you done on yours ?
I'm converting mine to a soft top today and, please, if anyone can tell me where I'm supposed to loop the belts hanging down from the canvas into, please let me know. I say I'm doing it but my other half is actually doing it and i currently hear him swearing at it. We watched Exmoor Ttrim instructions for an 88 but there's no 90 instructions and the 90 doesn't have hooks on the front bar (that's the second photo).

That's what we thought but ours came with no hooks to put it into. it looks like a skirting board almost. Smooth. We'll just buy a couple of hooks Couldn't get the tailgate on because it's been modified so need to buy a couple more bits. My other half has been a star about it. bless him. It's not looking bad though, a bit loose but Exmoor Trim say that allows for shrinkage (I'v[e heard that one before!). Needs a few tweaks but come a hot sunny day (I'm hopeful) it'll be great fun.

The front of the canvas is held in place by a bar,

You fold the canvas under the bar and clamp it in place.

In thatbar is two slots that you place these hooks into and then tighted the canvas over the cab of the vehicle.

Cheers

Drove it 200 miles across the Pennines and back, snake pass was beautiful in the sunshine : )
