Looks like we've got a new member, welcome MikeFortunately I never had to change the heater matrix. But I know how too, and unfortunately that means the whole dash out
Give yourself plenty of time and label everything up as you remove it. Take lots of photos and beware of airbags.
You only want to do this once, so put a decent replacement in.
Have fun
Mike
If you'd like to pop along to the Introduce Yourself section and leave about 3K posts, we might get to know a bit about you and get to trust you
As for removing the whole dash, I failed just trying to remove the front panel - couldn't remove the radio cage to access the hidden screws, so ended up using frustration, anger, blood (literally, that cage is very sharp!) sweat, tears and heavy tools to mangle it up completely. I then succeeded in removing the front panel - but I was doing that in an effort to remove the cigarette lighter from it as it had broken and needed replacing - I then found I couldn't remove that either.
Such fun.
So I disagree with you - you don't even want to do it once! I prefer damp carpets and topping up the cooling system
Maybe there's a way of disconnecting the matrix (in the engine bay at the bulkhead?) and running some K-Seal through it?
